"FLASH FILL"

The theme this week by Craver is "Flash Fill". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew, Christine and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.

Flash Fill can be used to enhance your photos to get rid of shadows. I did this on this Halloween display on the front porch. Look at the flash filled photo verses the one below especially in the straw bundles.
You can see the difference the flash made in the photo.
I did some flash fill the night before on the display.
You can see even with the night setting the flash fill changed the results.
Here is the same photo from the front at night.
Since I was shooting against some window light the camera didn't want to pick up the object.

We went to our favorite place for a Tuesday supper, Ray's Place. My granddaughter gave a big smile. The flash doesn't reach the back wall so it didn't come out as well.
Without the flash fill the photo was washed out without much definition.
See what the others show on my side bar.

Nicely done with the flash! And a very nice fall decoration you have. I also like the non-flash shot of the pumpkin with only light from the window.

It was very good that you showed the before and after. I wish I had thought of that. :-)

Thanks for the tutorial! I don't use flash much but it really helps, especially at night. My favorite image is the one of your granddaughter. I like how she's highlighted and everything else is in the dark. Very nice!

It's interesting how different a picture looks with a flash. The header is beautiful.

What a difference with your flash fill...
Like Craver said, I like the "before" and "after" shots. Nicely presented.
Smiles,
Jackie
