No Fear

The theme this week by Christine is "No Fear". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew, Christine and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.

Christine came up with an interesting theme this week. I decided to find some photos that will show No Fear. The one I decided to use is a grey squirrel that showed No Fear while on our deck rail. This was just too comfortable to not capture a photo.
Mister Moose shows no fear with the spider web on him.
No wonder, with this spider above him moving away.
The stone shows the people who used the underground railroad that ran through Kent. They had to show No Fear to travel North in the 19th century. The slaves were able to get to Canada before the Civil war times and afterward.
I think the stone was so well carved.

"Who Done It?"

The theme this week by Mac is "Who Done It?". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew, Christine and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.

Mac wanted us to do a Who Done It? as this weeks theme so I decided to find out who was emptying the bird feeder. It could have been the Carolina Wren but it is a small bird.
How about the Rose Breasted Grosbeak?
Then there are the Downy Woodpeckers,
and the Red Bellied Woodpeckers.
Maybe I'm getting a little closer with this Black Squirrel. I'm still asking Who Done It?
But what is this in the feeder? Does it use the top entrance?
Why, it is a Chipmunk. I don't think it is the real culprit even with those full cheeks.
I finally found the real culprit emptying the feeders. Why it is this female deer with a big appetite.  Look at all the seeds on the ground.

"FLASH FILL"

The theme this week by Craver is "Flash Fill". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew, Christine and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.

Flash Fill can be used to enhance your photos to get rid of shadows. I did this on this Halloween display on the front porch. Look at the flash filled photo verses the one below especially in the straw bundles.
You can see the difference the flash made in the photo.
I did some flash fill the night before on the display.
You can see even with the night setting the flash fill changed the results.
Here is the same photo from the front at night.
Since I was shooting against some window light the camera didn't want to pick up the object.

We went to our favorite place for a Tuesday supper, Ray's Place. My granddaughter gave a big smile. The flash doesn't reach the back wall so it didn't come out as well.
Without the flash fill the photo was washed out without much definition.

"Macro Photos"

The theme this week by myself is "Macro Photos". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew, Christine and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.

I really enjoy the macro setting on my Canon SX100IS. It is easy to use and I'm always happy with the results. I had an encounter with a praying mantis, I always enjoy seeing this insect and they are wonderful to capture. I decided this was what I wanted in my header in its praying position.
Here is a daddy-long leg , not an actual spider, but an aphid eater.
I really enjoy the bumble bees.
Hoe about checking out this house fly with the florescent body.
So, here are some more photos of the praying mantis.
Check out this pose.
Here it is climbing on the flowers.
It went right passed the bee.

"It's In the Computer"

The theme this week by Kathy is "It's in the Computer". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew, Christine and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that. Mac is back from his travels.

I thought of one special item from the computer that I saw on our Turkey trip in Canakkale, Turkey. It was the Trojan Horse from the movie "Troy" with Brad Pitt. The Trojan Horse virus is very bad for the computer.
My wife and I posed a couple of times near the Trojan Horse.
It certainly was an imposing structure..
We visited the city of Troy. It had been rebuilt multiple times.
Many time it was destroyed from seismic activity it was rebuilt on top of the rubble in the same place. You can see the layers from this photo.
