It's hard to believe we are up to 10 already. I was driving along and next to the 2nd hole at Fox Den golf course near the pond I saw this.
I had to stop and get a better look.
Sure enough it was a large Snapping Turtle thinking about crossing the road.
I parked across from it and shot some pictures then moved on. The portion of skin on the neck that is half elliptical shaped moved in and out as it breathed. This may have been a female heading somewhere to lay eggs.
Darn - you got hammered with spam!

Aside from that it's neat to see an animal like that roaming around!

How beautiful and the nature, the marvel that is able to drive and see this turtle, something rare congratulations for the photos are very beautiful

ReplyDeleteYes, the turtles are nesting everywhere and it always seems like they want to cross the road ways to lay their eggs.

ReplyDeleteGreat photo of the snapping turtle, I know most people think they are ugly but I think they are beautiful. We actually turned around on the interstate last week and went back and saved a painted turtle, don't know how it survived, all I can guess is with it's head up it kind of looked sharp so people swerved to miss it.. I would love to see baby snappers, Mike had one as a pet when he was growing up. Happy Fathers Day to you!

ReplyDeleteYUP! I think it is definitely egg laying time. I see them EVERYWHERE out here along the road, crossing the road, walking through yards... EVERYWHERE! It's kind of weird because it is not really what you expect to see crossing the road in front of you hehehe.

Now that's something we don't have in Israel, so thanks a lot for sharing your turtles. I wouldn't want to get snapped at by that big mama.
