Today's Flowers #2

My friend Luiz Santilli Jr. has started a Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. You can get in on the ground floor.

This is the Stag-horn Sumac Tree - Rhus typhina. It is outside my work place. I thought this unusual flower deserved recognition.

This is a beautiful flower and the leaves on the tree turn a bright red in the fall to match the flower.
You can click on the photos to get a better look.

  1. We used to have one of these trees in our yard. It was beautiful. They grew wild around us, too. I was allergic to them. NOT so beautiful!

  9. We also used to have some of these trees in our yard when I was a child. They grew wild, and we called them Essigbaum or Götterbaum. In fall, the leaves had all colours from yellow to red. I loved them very much!

  10. They are very pretty and the leaves turn such a beautiful colour in the fall as well. They grow wild all around the Kahshe gardens and we are constantly pulling them out where they invade the gardens.

  13. Very nice, FG. I love the colour of the sumac leaves in fall too. And if you soak the berries, strain and add sugar you can make a drink that tastes a lot like lemonade. (Git that from Euell Gibbons. Do you remember him?)

Well, I just joined Luiz Santilli Junior's flowers group and planted some flowers and they are already in bloom at my new blog, Thunder Maker.

It looks like I am going to have to try and catch up with everyone. So many blogs to stop at and make comments.
