My friend told me there were deer behind the plant. I ran and got my camera and quietly walked to the back of the property. Out of the wooded area come a fawn and a doe. I thought these were the same ones I saw a few weeks back.
They worked there way along the back of the property browsing from the grass and trees. "I think I have an itch on my chin mom".
She is a good looking mom.
"We can both get a bite of this tree".
"Oh oh, something is wrong".
"I'll go over and investigate, maybe if I paw the ground it will get scared." I never moved a muscle.
"I guess you are harmless and I'm still hungry".
"Come along and move over here".
They always give that one look back.
This is not the end of the story and I will finish the story next week for Camera Critters.
I love the story I felt like I was right there with you. Beautiful pictures they are lovely creatures.

ReplyDeleteI had to smile when I read the part about how they always take one last look back. I have noticed that myself. It's like they wonder why we're staring at them. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy regular fawn visitors to the yard have lost their spots - they are growing so fast.
ReplyDeleteIf you just took these this one must be a late birth.
Nice shots.

ReplyDeleteSweet shots! And from the looks of it you came pretty close! Well done!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Klaus
Cute story Guy! You must not look too big a scary to have them come back to investigate.
ReplyDeleteI see the mother is beginning to change to her winter coat. Our deer here in SC Pa are shedding also.
I would trade you my two eye teeth for these animals for a week or so. I would be so dumbfounded I probably wouldn't have sense enough to press the shutter button much less take my eyes off the critters.
ReplyDeleteSuch an inspirational post. Your work is brilliant.
Fantastic post FG..they sure are a beautiful pair..love the colouring and markings of the doe! :D

ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! How neat you probably saw the same ones. Can't wait to hear the rest of the story.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I found a fawn laying under our largest gardenia bush. I couldn't believe my luck -- no camera!
ReplyDeleteBy the time I returned, its mother had come to retrieve her baby. Both were gone. I saw the white tails disappear into the wood line.
I'm so envious of these shots!
Blessings,
Lacy
