These are two shots from the Toby Keith concert last Saturday night. This is the cloudy sunset. We had two solid days of rain which ended 5 hours before the concert.
We now have the Harvest Moon in the cloudy Sky rising as the Sun is setting. The reason they called it a Harvest moon was that it gave the farmer enough light to continue working after sunset. This has changed since they added all the big lighting systems to the tractors.
Sunday brought the remnants of Hurricane Ike that hit Texas up through Ohio. It took out power to 2 million customers for a few days. Some are still down from the winds that gusted 60 to 80 miles per hour and took out many trees. This is a view of a cloudy day on Monday with a promise of better weather to come.
The promise was fulfilled on Tuesday and has continued until today and a promise through the weekend.
Hope you enjoyed the Ohio Roller Coaster Weather Skies.
Love those blue skies in the bottom pictures! I didn't realize you were in Ohio. For some reason I thought you were more southeast. I'm still amazed that Ike got to Ohio.
ReplyDeletegreat shots! the skies are so impressive!
ReplyDeletethe last pic is my fav
ReplyDeletePlease drop at my SWF post also: in HERE. Thanks
Nice series FG. My harvest moon pic didn't turn out this well - good job!
ReplyDeleteCrazy Ohio Roller Coaster Weather!!!

ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I had a corona with my nearly full moon the other night. Great!!!
ReplyDeleteThe last picture indicates more peaceful times!
ReplyDeleteLove that last one - blue skies are such a hopeful thing to see!
ReplyDeleteThose are all beautiful shots. I hope everyone effected by the hurricane will see much improvement as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a collection of very different skies FG! Glad the rain stopped before the concert. NICE! Happy Sky Watch!
ReplyDeleteThose were pretty fabulous. I love the blues, and I love the ethereal glow!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots, I love the Harvest Moon. Ring around the Moon there will be rain soon.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you did not suffer to much through the hurricane.
Our thoughts and feelings to all who did suffer.
The sun comes always after the rain, surely is a lovely sight to see after a hurricane! Hope you are fine! Happy skywatching!
ReplyDeleteFG: I am glad that the rain stopped before your concert. I love the harvest moon photo. Lisa

ReplyDeleteskywatching with toby keith singing your soundtrack, what could be better.
ReplyDeleteLove the last one!
ReplyDeleteFG great photos. I really like the harvest moon shot. You are getting very creative with your photography.
ReplyDeleteCheers
All wonderful. If my dad had seen he Monday shot he would have said it would clear because "there's enough blue up there to make a Dutchman a pair of britches".
ReplyDeleteI hope you have recovered from Ike! The sky on Tuesday certainly did recover; I love the bright blue and the lush greens.
ReplyDeleteI should call my brother, who lives in Ohio. Oh, in his case, no news is good news.
Yes I have enjoyed all your pictures thoroughly. I also appreciate the texts. The harvest moon is still very special so it seems it has lost its purpose!!
ReplyDeleteHappy SWF.
Mmm... such a beautiful series of photographs!
ReplyDeleteGreat information for that Harvest Moon! Usually the full Moon will rise about 50 minutes later each night, but for the few nights around the Harvest Moon, the Moon seems to rise at nearly the same time each night: just 25-30 min3 later across the US, and only 10-20 mins later for much of Canada and Europe.
Hope your weekend is good!

ReplyDeleteSo impressive clouds. Good report on Ike disaster.
ReplyDeleteLove that harvest moon pic!
ReplyDeleteI never have any luck with night pictures.
Your "roller-coaster skies" remind me of a longstanding joke in S. Illinois: You don't like the weather? Just wait a few minutes, it'll change.
ReplyDeletereat skys and love the toby keith playing too! almost makes me feel like i was there :D
ReplyDeleteLove all the shots but I'm really drawn to the harvest moon shot!!

ReplyDeleteVery changeable weather you have there! Love the moon - I did moon too on one of my blogs. The other is comparison of the same view at different times.
ReplyDeleteLovely post.
Hi FG,
ReplyDeleteThe problem with putting a comment on a post when so many other people have already commented is that it is virtually impossible to say something that hasn't already been said so I'll just have to repeat what other folk have said. Great shots!
Love the moon post fishing guy!
ReplyDeleteGreat Photo!
ReplyDeleteNice entries for this week...TC
ReplyDeleteGreat series Fishing!
ReplyDeleteEnding in a river!!!
Where are the fish???

Wonderful photos. I'm glad the skies cleared for your concert. And this is why I love blogging, not only for the awesome photos, but from what I learn, in this case about the Harvest Moon and why it was called that. Thanks for the informative and beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is absolutely gorgeous! Very nice job.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I got my pictures up from the Rascal Flatts/Taylor Swift concert. Check out sherrikayesheart.blogspot.com.
Have a great day!
It's easier to watch the pictures of Roller Coaster Weather Skies than actually living through them, I guess. The images look great, though. My favorites are the one with the moon and the one with the clouds against the bright blue sky.
ReplyDeleteFull moon around the autumn equinox always seem so much larger, don't they?
NICE!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend!
:-Daryl
Yes, that moon WAS bright, wasn't it? I remember looking out into my backyard, just amazed by how bright the moonlight was.

ReplyDeleteFishing Guy,
ReplyDeleteThere are more pictures on my other blog page (www.sherrikayesheart.blogspot.com). There are a few on there of Taylor, but they weren't as good as Rascal Flatts because they had better lighting. Please go check out my other blog page and thanks so much for stopping by!
Lovely photo's, especially the dark one
