Feeling a Little Squirrely Today

The reason I'm feeling squirrely is that I've been seeing a lot of these little guys. This is a poser from the golf course last Friday. A Fox Squirrel showing off. I didn't know the reason. Well here it is, he is Rocky the flying squirrel. He really was making tracks or not.
This little gray was in the neighbors driveway posing on a rock.
He decided to scoot and I got one more shot before he flew away.
The final one is a Black squirrel in the back yard. Get a load of the prize he has found. Note the eggplant in the garden behind him. They are they same color.
He took one look at me and thought better of the situation.
Away he flew to the neighbors fence for the last bite.
This squirrel in the flower garden is easy to capture. He is rather stoic and never flies away.

  2. Great pictures. I especially like the black squirrel with the mushroom.
I had never seen a black squirrel until you posted one awhile back. Before that, if I had seen one, I wouldn't have believed it was a squirrel!

The last one, the squirrel statue: that's the only one I'd be able to capture with my camera.

Didn't know squirrels came in black.

  14. Black squirrels? Who knew that they even existed. Pretty darn handsome folks. The squirrel in photo one looks like he has his paws folded in prayer: "In the name of the Father,Son and Holy Ghost....please Lord keep Fishing Guy safe, he's my meal ticket and friend.

  18. Wow! What a good collection of squirrely photos!!! They are so funny to watch. The black one is rare, isn't he? My favorite is the one you caught in mid-air as he was running!!!!

  19. I haven't seen many red (Fox) squirrels here. They were all over, when we lived in Chicago. Those are my favorite, but we mostly see gray squirrels 'round here.

But I have never seen a live black squirrel. My guess is that they are just as skittish as the grays.

Fun post... the stoic fella was a nice addition.

  24. Fascinating pic of the black squirrel eating the mushroom! I had no idea there were black squirrels or that squirrels even ate mushrooms. Do you suppose that variety of mushroom is edible by humans, i.e., not poisonous? I know for sure that morels are safe, but other than that I'm not too keen on trying any. And morels are only available for a few weeks each year.
