The reason I'm feeling squirrely is that I've been seeing a lot of these little guys. This is a poser from the golf course last Friday. A Fox Squirrel showing off. I didn't know the reason.

Well here it is, he is Rocky the flying squirrel. He really was making tracks or not.

This little gray was in the neighbors driveway posing on a rock.

He decided to scoot and I got one more shot before he flew away.

The final one is a Black squirrel in the back yard. Get a load of the prize he has found. Note the eggplant in the garden behind him. They are they same color.

He took one look at me and thought better of the situation.

Away he flew to the neighbors fence for the last bite.

This squirrel in the flower garden is easy to capture. He is rather stoic and never flies away.
Great pics. I have never seen a black squirrel, other than the stoic ones........
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I especially like the black squirrel with the mushroom.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen a black squirrel until you posted one awhile back. Before that, if I had seen one, I wouldn't have believed it was a squirrel!
Very nice that is the first time I have seen a black squirrel. He was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've seen mayby 2 fox squirrels here in CT and NEVER have I seen black squirrel. If I'm honest, I must admit I didn't know there was such a squirrel. Great photos!

Didn't know squirrels came in black.
I have never seen a black squirrel. He is special.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such a dark squirrel before he or she is amazing.... I have seen grey ones and redish ones but never a black coated one... amazing critters...and a delight to watch.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots. First time I see a Black Squirrel. I donn't think we have them here in Norway. Thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteBlack squirrels? Who knew that they even existed. Pretty darn handsome folks. The squirrel in photo one looks like he has his paws folded in prayer: "In the name of the Father,Son and Holy Ghost....please Lord keep Fishing Guy safe, he's my meal ticket and friend.
ReplyDeleteNice collection of squirrels! We have both fox and gray in our area but no black.
ReplyDeleteI really like the shot of the black with the mushroom.
That first photo made me laugh w/ that squirrels pose - almost like he's begging! I've noticed the squirrel activity increase in my yard too.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say greetings from the north coast. We in Lakewood get lots of black squirrels. It is nice to see a blogger from Ohio. I love your blog. Good luck and God bless.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a good collection of squirrely photos!!! They are so funny to watch. The black one is rare, isn't he? My favorite is the one you caught in mid-air as he was running!!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen many red (Fox) squirrels here. They were all over, when we lived in Chicago. Those are my favorite, but we mostly see gray squirrels 'round here.
ReplyDeleteBut I have never seen a live black squirrel. My guess is that they are just as skittish as the grays.
Fun post... the stoic fella was a nice addition.
Love black squirrel-we don't have any black ones around here. Love the flying pic too.
ReplyDeleteHey FG,
ReplyDeleteI was feeling a bit squirrely myself today, check it out!
PS thanks for the tip about your friends bird blog.
The black squirrel hugging the mushroom is priceless! What a splendid photo... my favorite by all time!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos... I thoroughly enjoyed them all!
That is so cool! I have never seen a black squirrel before! It must be a northern thing1 All of our squirrels are reddish brown or gray.
ReplyDeleteCool pics!
Blessings!
Lacy
Fascinating pic of the black squirrel eating the mushroom! I had no idea there were black squirrels or that squirrels even ate mushrooms. Do you suppose that variety of mushroom is edible by humans, i.e., not poisonous? I know for sure that morels are safe, but other than that I'm not too keen on trying any. And morels are only available for a few weeks each year.
ReplyDeletenice photos :)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a Black squirrel before :)
FG, Great series, love the action shot.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos... the black squirrel has a beautiful fur coat!

Oh My Gosh - I've never seen nor heard of a BLACK squirrel - Seriously! It freaked me out as I scrolled through your photos today! We don't have black ones here in SE Missouri!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post. I don't get squirrels in my yard. I've never seen a black squirrel before. How cool!
ReplyDeleteThose are great shots.
ReplyDeleteHo, ho, ho! Maybe your black squirrel is a little squirrelly because he ate one too many 'shrooms? I adore squirrels and you've taken some beauties. A great collection!
ReplyDeleteThey are always funny. But I think the last one tricked you! ;)
ReplyDeleteCheers, Klaus
Love the flying squirrel! Nice and sharp for an action pic. Very convincing "flight."
