My World #31

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Ivar, Sandy, Wren, Louise and myself. Last week there were 115 people showing their world to us. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Here is part of 'My World'.

My boat is out and even with a cold front I was on Lake Hodgson. Fishing was slow, birding was hot. Here are a couple of Canada Geese that landed in a little cove where I was fishing. They took off as I approached.
I was able to get this flying reflection shot as one flew by.
The Cormorant were doing their running start take-offs.
They do put on quite the show.
A couple of Mallard Ducks didn't let me get close and took to the air.
I saw two Green Herons and this one was nice enough to land in a dead tree for photos. I still don't know where they get their name. I could have used my other camera for this shot.
I also saw several Swallows and two Great blue Herons in a fly by for a super bird day.

    wonderful captures...isn't it nice when one thing fails to materialize something else lands in our lap? i was looking for birds this weekend for my other blog and not a one came my direction...but, i did capture some lovely shots of everything else :)

    Wow those are some beautiful shots! I was looking at some info about Hodgson and saw it is stocked with walleye? i also found that it is an excellent bass/ pan fish lake, I might have to give it a try some time!

    Glad to see you out and fishing again, I know you have missed it during the long cold winter.
    Even if the fish were not co-operating, at least you caught the geese. i like the running takeoff. It looks good with the geese, i do'nt think I would have appreciated the Prof doing a bouncy one like that in a plane though.

    Those are some great shots, with their wings spread.
    I've never heard of a green heron. I'll have to be on the lookout for one down here.
    I hope they didn't drop any "bombs" on that fly by!

    Hey Tom, I've enjoyed catching up on your blog. Glad you were able to get the boat out. Just being out there on the water has to be enjoyable--even if the fish weren't biting.

    You don't like bugs, fishing guy?! What was really cool is the day after the ice went out of our lake the fish began surfacing and jumping for them. It was one of the signs that nature was unfolding as it should. :-)

    We had one come through on our pond - he stayed for about a day - then left again. Neat bird!
