What Is It XXV - Answer

The object I was showing you was a close-up of a Shelf Fungus growing on a dead tree. This was across a creek that went through the fairway. I asked my brother to stop the cart so I could get the close-up. Darla from Florida made the first guess of a mushroom which was really good try. Check out all the flowers on her site. My friend Mac from England was the first one to guess fungi. Mac used to be on the Sky Watch team. Mac always has great photos from across the ocean. I thought the complete photo of the tree, fungi, stream and fairway made an interesting shot.

    That's so cool! Really does look like mushroom... I guess fungus can appear in different ways.

    Well...that really did take me by surprise! It almost looked "woody" in the before shot. I would not have guessed a fungi.

    I have seen shelf fungus on a few trees, but haven't had to chance to get out and look at them close!

    I never got around to guessing but I don't think I would have got it EVER!

    FG-I am hurt you didn't mention I got the guess...granted I did read the other comments before hand...lol :) I am always amazed at how fungus on a tree can be art...but it is..neat photos

    Shelf fungi are seen quite often in our woods..
