Camera Critters # 64

Today I'm showing my garden enemy. He is on my list as the #1 public enemy. He is allowed in the onions, just don't enter the fence.
He noticed something else interesting.
Oh no, you are not going to take up residence in the shed. No way is that allowed. He didn't smell any food and left quickly.

    Hey Tom... We've had experience with those woodchucks/groundhogs too.. (Seems like we've had experience with all critters. ha) Anyhow--we found his home and when we knew he was not in there, we covered the opening with huge rocks. Guess what??? He finally left--and we haven't seen him since...And no others have come since that was about 3-4 yrs. ago.

    SO--get out there and find his home!!!!!! (Ours had dug a big hole next to a large tree with roots around.)

    Yikes! When I read 'garden enemy' I expected nothing bigger than a slug (our worst pest). I was going to ask what it was but read Betsy's comment. Does it bite? Can you eat it?

    I loved this post--but good luck keeping him/her out of the garden and the shed.

    LOL.. we both posted garden pests today. Yours is MUCH larger than mine. I've never seen a woodchuck (if thats what he is). He looks like he could eat a LOT of garden goodies.

    I haven't seen a groundhog since I left WV. Seems they don't like the heat.
    But I love to watch them. Thanks for sharing these pictures and his story. tee hee
    Ground hogs just can't get a break. tee hee

    I thought he looked really interesting but then we don't have groundhogs/woodchucks (?) in the UK.
    Loved the tee-shirt by the way - our squirrels need no guiding to the feeders . . . ;-)

    Ooh for years we have had trouble with groundhogs having babies under our shed & then burrowing up the whole yard.

    Thankfully this year they haven't seemed to come back!

    Hi Tom,
    That's a classic encounter with the garden raiders. I used to hunt them hard all summer, but lost interest in that.

    I like to see them, but realize what a problem they can be.
