The Pufferbelly (old railroad engine term) is one of the neat restaurants in downtown Kent, Ohio. It is a converted railroad station and was built in 1875. The tracks are now used by the grain mill. The prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good. The decor is neat for the age of the building with the brick interior.
This is a view from Cuyahoga River at the back of the building at the railroad tracks.
The decorations are pretty neat, this is a Great Northern Pike from the river.
This is an old canoe that is hanging from the ceiling.
Here is an old wagon full of antiques over the bar.
Try to visit some of the neat places people are showing around the world.

ReplyDeleteNeat place, Tom... When our two youngest sons were little, we went to an old train which had been converted into a restaurant.. We thought the kids would love it. However, our youngest (about 1-2 at that time) cried and cried when we were INSIDE trying to eat. He just wanted to go OUTSIDE to see the train.. We couldn't convince him that he was ON the train. It was not the best of our 'eating-out' times with the boys. ha ha

ReplyDeleteGotta love the Pufferbelly, Tom. My great great uncles use to work for the RR and would roll through, right past the pufferbelly, in the early 1900's, on their way to Marion, Ohio.

It has the same general look as the old train station in Ann Arbor, which is also a restaurant now. It's right beside the train tracks, which are still in use. Each time a train goes by, the maitre d' rings a bell and all the customers and staff clap.
