Wednesday Potpourri - Up On Top

For my Wednesday Potpourri I have been seeing a lot of nature up on top.

This is a neighborhood Black Squirrel up on top of the (bird) feeder. It does feed squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits as soon as it is loaded.
Here is a Black Swallowtail at the greenhouse that was up on top of the ceiling. This is an American Goldfinch up on top of the bird feeder holder.
This is a female Mallard Duck up on top of a neighbor's bird box. Was she checking out a future home?
This is a Mourning Dove up on top of the deck rail.
This is a Cardinal up on top of a wooden goose cutout.
This is a female Red Winged Blackbird up on top of last years cattail.
That was fun to be up on top.

  8. Beautiful photos of the birds, Tom. I don't know why but I really love the Mourning Doves. We have two small ones that come to our deck (to clean up what has been spilled from above) several times a day. I love watching them.

  16. While I was scrolling through your beautiful pictures....that song by the Carpenters was running though my mind. "I'm on the top of the world, looking down on creation, and the only explanation I can find...."
Now you are singing it aren't you? Well, I'll bet it atleast made you hum. tee hee

  20. The Mallard duck on the feeder/ nest is really an interesting catch Tom. This series is a "spot the odd man contest" and the Mallard is surely the oddest of them all.

  21. Love the squirrel shot! We're going to be in Ohio for 2-3 days next week and hope to get over near you and see a black squirrel. Got any suggestions on places to go and things to see in your part of the state? That's a great bunch of bird shots! Love the mallard on the bird box.
