My World # 39

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Ivar, Sandy, Wren, Louise and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Here is part of 'My World'. I will be travelling today and will get back to you as soon as I can.

The July 4Th celebration is full of traditions. We go to the Stow, Ohio parade every year. My wife and I get there 2 hours early to get prime seating. The parade lasts about two hours. The parade always opens up with a military honor guard.
This was the neatest car in the dignitary section.
The Stow Band performed and there was some flipping going on.
This is the police honor guard with the Ohio flag flying with Old Glory.
This was the neatest custom car in the parade. Click on it and give it a once over.
The rest of the day was quite busy. We had our annual Applebee's luncheon with the grandchildren. Kent has a festival with lots of vendors and entertainment. Bobbie, our friend, had a picnic for family and us, the "adopted family". Kent had fireworks in the evening. It was a long day of partying. We had one day to wind down before vacation.

  13. It looks like a great parade. I especially liked synchronized flipping by the girls.

  14. Glad you had a great parade! We did the dog a big favor and got out of Butte America this year to escape the fireworks madness (it goes on from morning to midnight for about a week).

  17. I love small-town parades - my Grandkids love our Breckenridge parade for the candy that gets thrown to the bystanders! I must compliment you on that beautiful header photo!

  19. Awesome parade! And July 4th was also my late parents 62nd Wedding Anniversary!

Back in my home country, we used to celebrate our own Independence Day after America until the Legislative Body decided to break away from copying too much from your Great Nation!

    Long Live!

  20. Looks like a great parade. I like the antique car better than the custom one, although it's certainly unique.

    Love your header.

    Have a great vacation.

I love the dragonfly in your header, it looks quite ominous, a bit like a black widow.

  29. I noticed something about the white car, the big antique in the dignitary section... the front bumper has "bullet holes." I'd love to cruise around in a car like that... minus the bullet holes.

  30. What a great tradition...my husband would never make it two hours waiting..

  31. Tom the day sounds like so much fun. I love the customized car and great photos. I have to admit that not much happens here on the islands for Canada Day and it is a little disappointing. I ususally go to the hoopla on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and that is always so much fun if not a little too crowded. Thanks for sharing your wonderful day.

  38. Sounds like your 4th was spent a lot like mine. We are a small town and have a big celebration. A parade, singing all day and night on the court house lawn, food, carnival, crafts, etc. Our fireworks had to be canceled because of rain, but they will be done later this summer. I posted on my blog about our parade in case you would care to look. Looks like you really had a good time.

  39. A fun looking parade for sure. It looks as if there were all kinds of neat things to please just about anybody watching along the road there!
I'm not a huge fan of the custom car but hey, I am sure I am part of the minorities out there... it's a different type of vehicle, that's for sure!

I am glad you all had such a nice time!
