Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating. The Mourning Dove is a common bird in the Spring through Fall in our area. Here is one I saw near the small stream in the neighborhood.

They do like the Ohio Buckeye Tree.

They check out the flower beds looking for food.

They like to come onto my deck and show there stuff.

This is a tree from the neighborhood where I saw this one.

They are very comfortable on the gravel roads. I love the iridescent strip on their neck and their red legs.

They are a neat bird. Visit some other great critter sites above.
These pictures show the Mourning Dove very well.I think they are so gentle looking. Thanks for sharing these shots and have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteI usually have around eight or so under my bird feeder. I went to the window and checked when I saw your post come up. I only see three sitting in the trees at the moment.
How lovely to see these doves in beautiful settings. We see them here on fence tops and electric wire for the most part ... often in pairs.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
You got great captures of the Mourning Doves visiting your neighborhood. We have several around our house and they are fun to watch.

ReplyDeleteThese are such beautiful captures of the dove~! Why is it called a "mourning" dove?
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty dove - not flashy and bright but subtle and pretty. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love their early morning call! Sweetness!
ReplyDeleteYou are a great photographer, I haven't taken such close up photos of birds.
ReplyDeleteLovely dove shots. I never seem to get anything but shots of them pecking for seeds in the driveway. This is a nice variety.
ReplyDeleteI Love to hear doves coo.
ReplyDeleteThese are one of my favorite birds. Not sure why, but they are. Years ago, a friend tried to tell me that the cooing sound I was hearing was a turkey. I made a mental note never to take him turkey hunting!
ReplyDeleteRemember that bill to allow hunting of Morning Doves? That never passed did it?
