The header theme this week by myself and is "See the Birdie". Mac,Tom, Darla, Martha, Gail's Man and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week.
I wanted to choose the neatest birdie I have seen lately. The Red Bellied Woodpecker on the far feeder. This was the action birdie I really liked.
My House Sparrow certainly was a cute birdie.
This Morning Dove looked like a neat birdie in its snow nest and certainly had a chance.
These Common Grackles where pretty feisty birdies.
Here are a pair of Dark Eyed Juncos. I spilled some bird seed on the deck that brought them in. They are a neat birdie.
Then I thought of this Red Bellied Woodpecker which also came to the bird seed. What great colors on this birdie.
But I chose a pair of Downy Woodpeckers on the suet feeder. They are a really cool birdies. The female was really giving me a look.

Excellent "birdie" header and entry. I especially like the very last photo, pretty birdie :-)
ReplyDeleteI see your wonderful birdies Tom
ReplyDeleteFantastic to get these in your garden.... The Downy's have become a favourite Wood Pecker of mine since I started blogging so great to see them in your header... Like Martha I do like that last picture...
ReplyDeleteA good selection of well fed birds. They obviously know where to come for their in flight catering.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful header...your birds have been plentiful too.
ReplyDeleteI love your header image! Darling!
ReplyDeleteThe woodpecker pictures are my absolute favorite. I adore woodpeckers!
Blessings,
Lacy
Nice collection of bird shots Tom. Have you invested in bird seed stock? ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great group of photos. You gotta love those little Downy woodpeckers. They're so sweet, bold and curious. I've had them watch and wait while I add new seed to the feeder and hop onto it before I even turn to walk away. I need to remember my camera when I'm refilling seed! Nicely done. :)
ReplyDeleteWoodpeckers are the craziest people! We have them here too, just not like that one. Nice camera work!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice such a variety of birds at your feeders! The woodpeckers always add such flair with their red heads and black and white backs! Good job..and cool header!
ReplyDeleteHi Tom, Great birdie pictures... I love the little Downy ones too!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe're having a wonderful time in Arkansas.. We've taken a billion pictures!!! ha

ReplyDeleteGreat bird shots and I must say that your header certainly has a wow factor.
ReplyDeleteWe seem to have the same visitors to our feeders...great shots here.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful birdies, Tom.
ReplyDeleteAll nice pictures, I like very much the last one!
Great shots all!
ReplyDeleteGosh Tpm, you are coming up with some fantastic stuff for your headers.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Tom, that female woodpecker sure is giving you the eye.
ReplyDeleteYour selection was the perfect one; I too would have chosen the same :)

Dear Tom, your header is outstanding!So...the female was kindly posing for your camera! It's sooo nice!
ReplyDeleteCute set of birds pictures, thanks a lot!

Oh I just love your birdies! I think you win hands down! Birds are just the very best thing for making a day seem a little brighter and lighter. The girls had an interesting event up in their room just now while I was looking at your wonderful birds. Anna couldn't figure out what was making an odd sound, sort grindy, sort of growly no, maybe rapid..., oh! It was a Northern Flicker tapping on our metal roof!
ReplyDeleteI get jealous of shots like these. I don't have any nice birdies that come by. Our home owners' association forbids bird feeders :(
ReplyDeleteI'll just come here to see the birds from now on!
so many great birds! i love the mourning dove in the snow though - very cute! Love the downies and red-bellied too! Great shots! your porch looks popular!
ReplyDeleteCute little birds!
ReplyDeleteI love the header. Great shots of the one in flight too.
ReplyDeleteAnd you chose well, but I can see that you had a difficult choice to make. Great shots! ~karen
ReplyDeleteI like the downy photo you chose and wish it has won...they are such nice birds to have come around each day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for identifying all these birds. I know so little about them.
ReplyDeleteI love the header-and all the other birdies too!
ReplyDeleteYes, she was!
ReplyDeleteShe seemed to be saying you were interrupting her breakfast.
That female bird has a crush on you Fishing Guy!
