This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.
This is the Kent State University Airport located in Stow, Ohio. This town abuts Kent to the West. It,s name, Andrew Paton Field, after the first aeronautical professor at Kent State. The hangar houses the squadron of Cessna's used in training. Thanks to Tom Arbor and Joe Todd for the info.
I was out a few days ago and got one landing.
This was today as they taxied to take-off.
It is in position to go down the runway. There is only one runway. You takeoff and land going North or South.
Most of the planes have blue markings but this one is gold, Kent state's colors.
Check out other peoples worlds above.

The shots of airport are nice. Sequence of shots on plane are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo essay of the little airport. It must be fun to go watch! ~karen
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place to watch the planes and an interesting post.
ReplyDeleteNice Tom, I've seen these exact planes a million times before as we lived only a few hundred feet west of the south approach to the KSU airport, so thanks for bringing back another memory for me. I'm not a plane expert, but I believe these planes are Cessna 152's.
ReplyDeleteTom
I love those planes and what a great little airport! I love watching planes land and take off! I would definitely enjoy a visit there! Great post as always, Tom! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Great plane!!!! Very beautiful photos!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice little airport. I bet its fun to hang out there if you are into planes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rose in your previous post.
Sorry to miss the Header Challenge each week now - I get off work just when you are getting started. Hours cut.
I love airplane shots! And, a nice informative story to go along with them.
ReplyDeleteI see you still have some snow drifts hanging around too. Bet you will be glad when they are all gone, won't be long now. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have an airshow here we go to every year, loved seeing the planes. I will have to post some of the ones I saw at the airshow.
Thanks so much for sharing your world!
Very interesting shots and words.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
Must be nice to own one of these :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Great post I haven't piloted a plane in about 15 years but I trained in Cessna 152s I'm pretty sure that is what those planes are maybe 172s. At any rate there isn't anything quite like being up in a small plane. I've thought about getting"current" with my license just so I could fly over the Hocking Hills,or to far away Golf courses LOL. Only problem with north south runway is if the wind is out of the east or west
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great thing to do. Really nice photos.
ReplyDeleteRunways that go only in two directions sound tricky for landing. I wonder how often pilots have to land in serious cross winds! Fun photos, FG!
ReplyDeleteTaxi, great shots Tom.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the planes Thomas..... we live under the flight path for Manchester Airport... we have jets coming and going all day and into the night yet we hardly notice them now. We even used to have Concord come over when it was flying... now that was a plane to take notice of.... we are around 5 miles from the airport but could here it land.
ReplyDeleteI used to go to Medows Field in Bakersfield. My grandpa and I would sit in the car and watch the "Guppies" take off and land. Good times...
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful pictures of the airport -- even with the snow on the edge of the runways!
ReplyDeleteNice series of airplane photos you've captured to share ... with interesting info too.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Neat pics, FG!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom said the airport was the place to go for couples to "make-out" when she was dating.
What a lovely study in blue today, and how appropriate for airplanes!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful motion shot on that flying airplane. Good capture of the airport. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post of the little airport! I would love to s it there watching the planes land and take off!
ReplyDeleteFlying small aircraft is such fun. The Prof is getting to an age where it is safer to have a second possible pilot so two of our grandchildren are getting their licences as well, thus we will be able to keep flying to remote places in the inland.
ReplyDeleteGreat thing to have a flying school on Campus.
Great shots... I like the snow still visible on the ground.
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Tom,
ReplyDeleteYou had a different day there. This is a small airport but really nice. The first pic is great as the whole post!
I think I could be afraid to face this kind of adventure, I mean inside those airplanes.I'm not so confident, always worried about my flights! :)
Have a nice Tuesday,
hugs

I love the shots!!! We were driving yesterday, and saw a plane - then it totally disappeared. We were mystified. The lakes aren't open and there isn't a landing strip nearby. Oh dear. I wrote a rant about changes to towns. Crazy times.
ReplyDeleteOh, that looks like a lot of fun, taking shots of these steely birds :)
ReplyDeletecool shots. i have been to a hot air balloon festival recently and have seen just about anything that flies and have seen a glider/plane like this one. awesome.
ReplyDeleteI bet that was fun capturing the planes....looks at all that snow!!
ReplyDeleteReally neat photos here. I love to see planes take off and land. Lovely post, thank you :)
ReplyDeleteI love this little visit to the airport. How nice! : )
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place. You got some wonderful shots.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have a lot more snow left than we do....
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Small airports are much more interesting than the big ones!
ReplyDeleteThe Cessna's are great little training planes, we have a small airfield in Blenheim that has a training school for flying and gliding.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to watch them landing and taking off.
I had a flight in a cessna when I was a child and enjoyed the trip.
Love it. I like going to airports and taking photographs. Problem is, no airports! But someday I'll find one! Great shots.
ReplyDeleteTom, this is a really nice and interesting post on Kent State University Airport. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteVery nice to know more about u, dear
ReplyDeleteCongrats for the shots

Amazing place! And I love old airplanes :)

Watching planes take off and land can be quite entertaining! I learned to fly (but never went so far to get my license) at a small airport like this...many, many years ago.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! Looks like our little airport : )
