Sky Watch Friday This is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link at 3:00 PM EDT on Thursdays. SWF is run by Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.
The other day I saw the Goodyear Blimp coming over a plaza. I stopped the car as it descended to the top of the plaza which is beside the Kent State Airport. Something nice to add to a pale blue sky.
It got pretty close to the top of the Target store.
You can actually see the pilot in the cockpit under the blimp and a valve for filling the blimp with helium on the Y.
It then went up and away and was moving pretty fast.
A great chance encounter that was a lot of fun.

Very beautiful captures. It looks great against the blue sky.

I want to be on that blimp, someday...
ReplyDeleteGreat close up photos!
What great pictures. Pay's to have a camera handy doesn't it? I wouldn't be without mine. That must have been a lovely sight coming over.

ReplyDeletePixellicious Photos
The first shot is a wonderful composition Tom!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful chance encounter.
Great pictures, Tom... There is something fascinating about blimps... I haven't seen one in a long time--but I remember seeing them off and on all through the years. You got some fabulous shots.

One nice encounter Tom.
ReplyDeleteIt has been such a long time since I've seen a Goodyear blimp, probably the last time in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Neat!
ReplyDeleteDifferent sky shots here. Lovely.:)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I especially like the close-up picture where you can see the pilot. I've never seen a picture of a Goodyear Blimp so close. Wow, it did come close to Target!
ReplyDeletevery nice,you captured it beautifully....
ReplyDeleteNeat sighting of the blimp. It is not often that one is seen around here.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful captures, Tom. I love especially the first image. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun sequence. They are so distinctive and funny looking to me.
ReplyDeleteFun photos for Sky Watch Friday, you just don't see those things floating around so often anymore.
ReplyDeleteOh man! You said we were going to Wall Mart, that down there is Target! Let's just go...
ReplyDeleteI adore your photos!: the header, too. Our deer have gone, left their winter yard and no where to be sen. But things are greening up. And the skies are loverly!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great chance encounter! Lovely composition in that first shot! I'd like to go up in one of those one day.... well, maybe not.
ReplyDeleteThese are great pictures of the blimp. I don't think I've ever been close enough to see the pilot before. The location of the valve is interesting.
ReplyDeleteCool capture, really clear! Amazing. There are always interesting objects seen when skywatching.
ReplyDeleteWow! I've only seen one of these from very far away! It must have been awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers in your blogheader!

ReplyDeleteI love to try that adventure.
Happy weekend.
I cannot remember ever having seen one...I would like to see one up close, but not sure I would want to ride in one.
ReplyDeleteWow what a great opportunity you have, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePlease come by and see my skywatch when you have time. Have a great weekend!
Looks great against the pale sky. What fun!
ReplyDeleteBlimps are always fun to see no matter your age!!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures...always liked that blimp..one reason being I used to work at Goodyear Arospace in Akron..also worked in the old hanger for the Blimps there.
ReplyDeleteBlimps are like hot air balloons, they're neat to see. Nice captures.
ReplyDeleteVERY COOL! I love blimps. I would love to ride in one... one of these days.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing capture Tom. I got goose bumps looking at the photos. As a child I had a very scary encounter with one of those blimps and have never had the chance to reconcile it. Beautiful shots and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSmiles
These are really great! What a fun capture.
ReplyDeleteI think I would love to go for a ride in one of these.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! Nice to see it up close like that!
ReplyDeleteI love those Blimp photos!
ReplyDeleteThere is one tethered about 40 miles from here, we see it often and I still stop whatever I am doing to gawk!
What's the differance between this airship and a 1000 condoms.....
ReplyDeleteOnes a good year...... the others a 'VERY GOOD YEAR' ;O)
WOW I haven't seen that in years. Glad you had your camera ready.
ReplyDeleteI would be shocked to see one of these in our skies. I have never seen one before. It's not even often we will see a hot air balloon but when we do, it can be such a beautiful sight to see how it can stay up in the air. So big, but yet so graceful. Very neat pictures.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well. I'm sorry I haven't been very blogative... I have had so many problems going on, I have been very not myself. Forgive me.
Hugs
In the distance and without the inscription it could be a Ufo.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots, Tom!
We used to see the Good Year blimp often here in Southern California but I can't recall the last time it passed our way. Nifty blue skies where you live.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Seems like that would be a scary ride-neat pics.
ReplyDeleteCool!
ReplyDeleteWe get to see it occasionally float by the house. Usually during race week. (NASCAR)
