Sky Watch Season # 4 Episode # 3

Sky Watch Friday This is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link at 3:00 PM EDT on Thursdays. SWF is run by Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.

I was on Lake Hodgson this morning before 7 AM and the Moon greeted me. We had overnight storms so I didn't know how the fishing would pan out.
A Great Blue Heron flew over the area I was fishing so I took a shot with my Canon A590 boat camera. There was also a seagull above it. I saw an Osprey and a Green Heron but wasn't quick enough because I was fighting fish.
Wind out of the North with a cold front moving through but forty Crappie later, at 10AM, I was headed off the lake and the sky was outstanding.
See all that other offers at the main site.

  27. What a pretty sky you had this morning. Our sky hasn't been looking like that until just after noon when our fog burns off. But I have been very appreciative of the morning marine air, it allows me to get a lot done, well that is when I'm not in here visiting friends and their forty crappie! So do you think it is true, that crappie is the best tasting fresh water fish? The only time I remember catching them or their relatives I guess, was when my brother and I went fishing at a lake not to far from Dirt's and my home (back then my folks live in town). We caught so many it filled the bottom of the boat. My dad didn't seem to impressed, called them sunfish. He was a trout and salmon man, stream and ocean fisher. But the folks who owned the lake house where we were visiting were glad to see that we caught so many and she helped my brother and I put them in her freezer. Was she just humoring us or are they delish? If so, I might have to take a break from tidying up for the wedding and take my girls fishin'!

  36. Wonderful sky shots, FG. But I have to ask - what will you do with 40 crappie?

hmmm ... just looked them up in wikipedia and was surprised to learn that they are a type of sunfish, which I used to catch as a child. Never knew that was what crappie were.

By the way, I'm glad it's you and not me that has to clean that many. :)
