Camera Critters 9

Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating.

I saw two donkeys in a field and decided to take their picture. This was the baby following his mother.
The mother was going to train the baby.
She said follow me and see what I do.
She had a good old time rolling in the dust and coating her fur to keep the bugs off.
The baby learned and did it also.
Mom said that's enough and walked away.
Animals are just wonderful.

  3. "Animals are just wonderful." Yes indeed, and donkeys are the most wonderful of all animals.
Whenever I spent hours grooming and cleaning donkeys they would always go straight to the dust bath.
Love the pictures and your commentary.

  23. I can't imagine humans taking dust baths but those donkeys sure seem to like it. Last May in Teddy Roosevelt National Park Jack and I saw huge bison taking dust baths. Did you end up with a dusty camera lens?

  29. This is so cool! The donkeys are really kicking up some dust! It has been so wet around here that a donkey would have to roll in the mud.

Our 'gills are in full spawn now. I spent all morning yesterday on the lake. Along with a nice catch I spotted a mature bald eagle but it spotted me first and I never got the camera into play.

  31. Hi just found your blog from Dina's Jerusalem Hills Photo Blog. Love the Donkey pics. In my area there is a problem with coyotes killing livestock. A local cattle farm put some Donkeys in their pastures. I heard it was to scare off the coyotes. Don't know if it really works or not.

Loved your post about the rivers too.

    The Preacher's Donkey

A man bought a donkey from a preacher. The preacher told the man that this donkey had been trained in a very unique way, (being the donkey of a preacher). The only way to make the donkey go, was to say, "Hallelujah!" The only way to make the donkey stop, was to say, "Amen!"

The man was pleased with his purchase and immediately got on the animal to try out the preacher's instructions. "Hallelujah!" shouted the man. The donkey began to trot. "Amen!" shouted the man. The donkey stopped immediately. "This is great!" said the man. With a "Hallelujah," he rode off very proud of his new purchase.

The man traveled for a long time through some mountains. Soon he was heading toward a cliff. He could not remember the word to make the donkey stop. "Stop," said the man. "Halt!" he cried. The donkey just kept going. "Oh, no... Bible!....Church!...Please Stop!!" shouted the man. The donkey just began to trot faster. He was getting closer and closer to the cliff edge. Finally, in desperation, the man said a prayer. "Please, dear Lord. Please make this donkey stop before I go off the end of this mountain, In Jesus name, AMEN."

The donkey came to an abrupt stop just one step from the edge of the cliff.

    "HALLELUJAH!", shouted the man.
