What Is It XIX

Since I had fun with a trio of finds I'm doing it again on What Is It. Let's see how you do.

This close-up could be tricky.
This one may be hard for some of you.
Here is the one that I only expect one person to get but take your best shot. I need an identity with this one. Do not guess a branch, but I did mention it recently.
Have fun but don't stress out on what it is. Answers will be tomorrow morning.

    First one looks like a dry flower ? Second one snow on a windshield third one Buckeye buds?

    Teasel - dried.
    Here's a laugh - flying above clouds.
    I didnt know the 3rd, but tracking back agree with others = Buckeye Buds.

    Oh I'm so bad at this...
    1. looks like the beginning of one of those buckeye buds up close--or maybe where the bud has fallen off
    2. ice/snow on windshield
    3. buckeye buds ---or some kind of buds on a tree (looks a little like our dogwood buds look, but larger)

    Oh no!! How come you got me on these again Tom!! LOL!! Okay my guesses are:

    #1 - pine cone
    #2 - soap suds
    #3 - buds of a grape vine

    See, it is easy, I know them all.... LOL!!!

    You make these a challenge! I think the second is snow or ice on a windshield wiper. Since you're up there in Ohio I'll go along with those that say number three is buckeye buds.

    Well Tom,

    You have CLEARLY :) photographed the Ohio potentially threatened species, Larix laricina, or Tamarack.

    I must say, when I first read this post, I glanced at all three pics, and nothing really popped right away for #1 or #3. It was only after I got your e-mail and went back and really looked at the branch did I notice the tell tale signs- the remnants of some of the yellowed deciduous needles.

    Also- Charlotte and I go way back to when I first worked at Kent Bog way back in 1999. Hard to believe that was 10 years ago.

    I'd say a flower, snow, and spring buds of some sort. I have a similar mystery on my Florida water journal if you dare take a guess. (But it's a tough one!)
