This is my posting for the
My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Ivar, Sandy, Wren, Louise and myself. Last week there were 125 people showing their worlds to us. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Here is part of 'My World'.
I have a field directly behind my city lot. I have seen birds, rabbits, squirrels, groundhogs, skunks, raccoons, foxes and deer that live in the woods. It used to be a nursery 30 years ago and you can see some overgrown shrubs from the edge of the woods. You can plainly see the deer trail I went in on.

This is one of the more unusual tree trunks I saw. I do think it looks like a cross between a frog and an anteater. Can you see the eye, mouth, legs and snout?

There are definitely some areas that say no trespass.

You also get into some misty areas and wonder which way to go.

It can get darker in the woods so you must take care.

I took my youngest grandson back into the woods. We found a groundhog mound. He found two tails from baby squirrels. The fox must have eaten the rest. I still don't know where the fox lives and haven't seen him for a while.
This looks like an interesting place for a walk.
ReplyDeletethe chicken that i am...i would hate to find a snake slitering about ^..^
ReplyDeleteenjoyed your pics and commentary.
have a great evening.
FG, what a great place to walk! and I can see that interesting creature formed by the fallen tree trunk! How cool is that! Thanks for all you do to help us share "our worlds"!
ReplyDeleteEeewww about the squirrel tails, but how nice to have woods to walk in, without having to live in the middle of nowhere (as I do!)
ReplyDeleteWalking with your grandson makes it even better, I'd guess--thanks for sharing your walk and the photos!
What a terrific place to walk! I guess you can spend several hours out there:) It's so nice to go a place were you can get out and enjoy the fresh air and just walk for as long as you want to. Thank you for the nice comment on my blog. I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great downtown wild zone. Great that you could take the grandson to enjoy it, too. I enjoyed the shapes you pointed out in those trunks.
ReplyDeleteYes, I could see that. Your trunks have faces, and I could see some eyes in one of them. Very interesting post!
ReplyDeleteOld trees have a story to tell.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fairy tale place to be able to take your g-children on exploring expeditions and adventures. I love the fact that it is so wild that you have to use animal tracks to enter this magic domain.
ReplyDeleteOh I love to take a walk and explore out there, and like you photograph unusual shapes of trees. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThat wood looks like a wonderful place to explore. Your photos were very enjoyable, thanks FG.
ReplyDeleteLove the anteater tree! How nice to introduce your grandson to the joys of nature!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite places to explore are the woods and forests and along the little paths made by the deers. And believe me, we have lots of them!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your little tour here, it was nice.
Hope all is well with you.
Hugs♥
It seems to be a place with lots of interesting things to be seen and some are quite weird too, like that tree trunk.
ReplyDeleteI guess you are quite right seeing it as a mix of a frog with an anteater!
If you go down to the woods, the surprise we get are what you might find. Poor squirrels! The day I tire of wandering through places like this is the day I stop. Lovely virtual walk and especially liked the sunflare.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics and such strange trees you found.

What fun!
I would enjoy exploring there. Wonderful look into your world.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely walk FG and yes quite an unusual discovery too ;D
ReplyDeleteGreat Photo's. When mt.man and I lived in "town" many moons ago, I had a lil forest behind my apartment I could walk. Glad you have your lil place in the city!
ReplyDeletethe same with Erin :) I hope there's no snake wandering around. I would like to wander around that place though.
ReplyDeleteMy world entry is up.

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have a special place right out your back door. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteAmazing wild shots!
ReplyDeleteYou observe details a lot, great!
This is a beautiful back garden you have Tom. That log does look like an anteater. :)
ReplyDeleteA magnificent place indeed, with those thick branches trees. What a beautiful series of pictures, Fishing Guy!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful to have a wood near your house. It's an excellent place for walks but not at night.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Photography! And not to forget to mention that the second photograph is giving an illusion of a crocodile-tree.
ReplyDeleteForehead Stamp
Excellent post..
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a wood as close as this. One tip on the fox.. follow your nose.. if you are near its home you should be able to smell it.. it can smell very bad.
There's an overgrown small field behind where I live. Hopefully in time it will turn into a small natural woods. Already I've noticed a differance in birds and butterflies. We also get many bats flying over head as well.
Thanks for sharing..looks like you live near in the forest.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice walk.
ReplyDeleteLooks very enjoying to walk in the wood. Lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteSounds strange to have the woods behind a city lot...very interesting tree for sure.
ReplyDeleteI seen the anteater right away!
ReplyDeleteI would like to lose my way in such beautiful woods..
ReplyDeleteVery cool place !
ReplyDeleteYou have some wonderful nature paths to trample around in. The tree trunk certainly was highly interesting. Lovely nature photos. I feel I'm right there. Was your grandson upset at only finding the tails of the squirrels?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this is the city. I always thought you lived in the country!
ReplyDelete(I could see the frog. Cool.)
Lovely looks similar to the area we lived in until 2007 then we moved into town (we were about 8 miles from town in the forest).great world you live in.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to walk, observe nature and share with your grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteI love this meme and learn a lot from it. Your photos make me wish there were woods close by to tromp around in!
ReplyDeleteLovely walk you had with your Grandson, lots of excitement and plenty of interesting finds.
