Sky Watch Friday # 58

Sky Watch Friday with the new format. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post.

I always like back-lit clouds and enjoyed these over my Ohio Buckeye Tree. The Direct TV Blimp came over our back yard and I got this photo with my wife's camera. It must have been in the area for work or it was a brand new one out for a test ride. It looks like a study of blue on blue. I'm glad the green tree was there.
I saw this helicopter going over the neighborhood and had to capture a shot in the sky.
There are a lot of great skies for you to visit.

I always smile when your masthead first appears and the deer is licking her chops at the great feast.

  8. Fishing Guy - Tell the truth - were the people in the blimp and the helicopter out to photograph you? Maybe you were on the evening news. That blimp hanging over the tree is just awesome.
    PS Your header is great!

  9. As Fishing Guy you probably know this: not exactly sporting, but you can put a couple of handfuls of buckeyes in a burlap sack, smash them up good, weight the bag with rocks, and sink in the local fishing hole. The buckeyes have a neurotoxin that paralyzes the fish, and you just scoop them up from the tailout. The Indians fished this way. Of course, no one would ever do such a thing today. Not even kids growing up in the Alleghenies. Nope. Never.

  13. You are so right, backlighting brings up lots of little details in the clouds.

  15. With all this looking up into the sky I'm surprised you don't trip and all down. I really like that first shot best. What does the DirectTV blimp do, send down waves of channels?
