Today's Flowers # 63

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time.

The beauty of this Pink Dahlia was past but the bees were still interested in the flower.
The Bumblebee in the center was accompanied by a Metallic Green Bee.
I name certainly fits with the fluorescent green color.
The Dahlias are now all brown from a freeze and will be putting on no more show this year except through my photos.

  4. So you glad you said the dahlias were brown now. I was looking out my window wondering how you could still have flowers. :)
I like the mottled color of the bloom at this stage and the bees are a added attraction.
    Nicely captured.

  19. "Dahlias are one of those garden delights that have soft and delicate petals yet beautifully layered by nature and arrayed with multiple colours to attract helpful visitors such as bees who are free to please themselves."~@lcd, 26 Oct 2009

  31. Beautiful capture of the bees! How on earth does everybody get this right? I guess my "stalking" skills suck because everytime I get close to an insect, it flys away! Or have you also started to make little claymations like the Bug Lady (LOL - just kidding!)

  32. Oh boy!! I clicked on that close-up of the little green bee, and WOW! --What amazing detail!! So, it looks like they have a set of large compound eyes and a set of little simple eyes. Do you know whether that's what we're looking at?
