Camera Critters # 89 - Whitetail Deer

The Whitetail Deer population is growing in my city of Kent, Ohio. The feed is enough that a doe can have up to three fawns. The family unit tends to stay together. There have been two days this month when the family visited my back yard. Here you can see the feeder being used by more then the birds. This was early in December. Click on the photos to get a better view.

This youngster was really getting up to get a mouthful of bird seed.

This was a photo from this week and you can see the deer are feeding on the grass and the feeder droppings.

They are looking really healthy for the winter to come.

  1. Cool backyard critters. Do you have a salt lick too? Maybe you can put out some corn too.

  6. Beautiful. I'll not show my hubby. He'll say they look good... to eat. LOL They are really nice deer. I would love to have them that close but at the same time I love my garden more. I don't want to be in the Deer vs. Plants predicament.

  10. I'm sure that doe appreciates that you make food available for her and her young ones. Do they come and feast on your flowers and vegatables during the rest of the year?

  19. Looks like one of them actually got into the feeder, Tom... Smart deer!!!! Our deer population is increasing here also.. They are protected---so they just keep growing. AND--with houses being built on their land, they are getting less and less land to roam around in...

Did you get snow there??? We got a tiny bit during the night--but it is gone today.
