One of my favorite birds is the Carolina Wren. They used to come only once in a while but now that I have a suet feeder they come often. I looked out the window and spotted this little guy.
He certainly had a determined look. They are always very aware of their surroundings.
A Black Capped Chickadee decided to also come in to feed from the seed. It launched itself off the hook headed into the seeds as the wren looks on.
There were a few of the Black Capped Chickadees sharing the area.
The Carolina Wren stopped on the deck railing before heading for parts unknown. They do have beautiful coloring.
You can see a lot of great critters above.
Both are wonderful yardbirds, I love the chickadee and the wren.

ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I didn't realize the wrens visited feeders so will have to look more closely to see if they are here too.
Never have I seen a bird diving like that! What a capture!

I was trying to do a Backyard bird count yesterday. With this weather they are sure out in full force looking for food.

That bird seed got my name on it GERONIMO.....No doubt about it that black capped chickadee's got to be my favorite. There's something about sticky thin birds legs thats kinda amusing don't you think. Crocodile legs dangling in the water come a close second though ;-)

ReplyDeleteI had a Carolina Wren nest in my yard one year. I had a dish hung below the suet feeder for the crumbs to fall into. The wren loved my thoughtfulness and spent lots of time at that dish. ~karen

ReplyDeleteI am like you, I have two carolina wrens who are here year round and they be far are my favorite feeder bird. I love that they sing all year round..and they antics while at the feeders are quite fun to watch.. Great post..love your feeders!!

Love the launch shot and the wren staring at you. Two of my favorite birds! Wrens are just so cute and interesting to watch. They try to nest in my garage every year and I usually let them. The House Wren used my gourd birdhouse, so maybe I can convince the Carolina Wren that it would be a better choice than the top shelf of Mikes' work bench :-)

I can't believe all the snow you have....we haven't had ANY snow this year which is so unusual for us...last year we were buried in snow...this year the year of the Olympics we hardly have any.....
