The Bridge project proceeds through the Winter season and progress has been made. This is a shot from two weeks ago and you can see the far bridge support is complete is and the near one is being reinforced. Here is the original post if you haven't seen it.
They have built a temporary bridge across the Cuyahoga River to work on the East bank.
Here is the construction on the first support on the East bank.
These are photos from today. A walk/bike path under path has been created under the bridge on the West bank of the river. You can see the mill on the far left side of the photo.
You can see the relationship of the walk/bike trail to the river.
So now looking from the road on the East bank you can see the bridge direction and the road it will connect into. The second set of supports is being constructed on the West bank. It will go over only the bottom set of railroad tracks. The cars will still have to cross the second set of railroad tracks that go the the mill.
I do hope you will visit some other worlds today.

That looks like a mess right now but then construction usually does. I know you'll be glad when it's finished.

It would seem over whelming to me if I was in the middle of the construction! Somehow, miraculously, it will become a beautiful bridge with no thought of the mess it is right now. Great informative post!

I lived for a long time in Japan during the early 1950s and saw a lot of their bombed out bridges being replaced and recorded that process. I don't have them online at the moment but if you are interested in building bridges, they will appear on my http://sendai-shi.blogspot.com/ blog someday soon.
ReplyDeleteMy pictures taken in 1954 are all in black and white but they depict some of the problems with bridge construction at that time.
Your pictures, though smaller, are very nice.
That's quite a process! I'm sure there will be plenty of people happy when the process is over.

ReplyDeleteIt's good to see that progress goes on during the winter months. I was glad to see that they are making provisions for walkers and bike riders as well. I hope you'll show us the completed project when it's finished.

ReplyDeleteI simply love construction sites. I always have, ever since I was little. In person is great, the best really but I love picture books about construction or puzzles even. So your post today is intriguing I have come to read and look twice today. You can see so much going on in your photos, thanks for sharing them.
