Wednesday Potpourri

I think I will use Wednesday as a time to catch up on photos that I've wanted to post but just haven't had time. In that vane I give you the following photos.

These first few are from my recent golf outing. The tree went down in a storm and was a window over the little stream.
I liked this little rock dam and the water movement around it.
Check out the amount of little minnows in the creek, a fisherman's dream. Click on it to see it better.
The next hole had this little shed back in the woods. I'm not sure what the golf course had it there for.
This is my great nephew Presley as we were eating at a Syrian restaurant in New Castle, Pa.
This is his brother Abram who I got to sit beside. The floor ended up pretty messy, not me. Girls look at those eyelashes, you have to pay to have them this nice.
The final shot is my granddaughter Princess as the boys tried to hit her with the soft soccer ball. There is grand son Golf Boy after firing and Princess simply swatted it away. Can you see the red ball on the right of the photo. It was all done in good fun.
I have been wanting to show some of these but got tied up with My World. It has turned into a really neat first week with a lot of participation. Thanks to any of you who helped to make it a success.

A Steamy Morning After the First Frost

We had our first frost last week and then the Sun came out. You can still see the frost on the neighbors yard. The black cover on the BBQ started to send up some steam. The Sun was putting on a neat show on the deck.
The table was also effected by the frost and the Sun.
The Sun was quite bright and put on a show through the an Apple Tree.
I thought the Sun and the frost added up to a neat show on the deck.

My World #1

This is the first posting for the new meme My World. It is hosted by Klaus, Tom, Ivar, Wren, Sandy, Mac and myself. I would like you to check out what we have to offer in the opportunity to show our world to you and we would like to see your world.

I would like to give a little bit of information about the world I live. I live in Kent, Ohio, USA which is in the North East corner of Ohio. My corner of Ohio is bordered by Lake Erie to the North, Pennsylvania to the East. Ohio is bordered by West Virginia and Kentucky to the South and Indiana to the West. We are in the mid-west of the USA.
The county I live in is Portage County and Kent is part of Franklin Township. Kent is in the furthest Western portion of the county and central to the county line. An important thing about Kent is it is a college town and the home of Kent State University. Kent has 29,000 people and the university has 24,000 students. There may be some overlap in the count so I consider that Kent's size, city/college, to be about 40,000 people. Kent is the largest city in the county.

The largest building in city proper of Kent is the grain mill. You can see the silos at the front.
The railroad tracks are behind the mill and can be loaded there. You can see the tube feeding the railroad car.
The largest building on campus is the Kent State University Library.
It is an impressive building and is in the Student Center complex area.
I did want to show you that we have small structures also. This is on a main State Route through Kent and seems to be a one room house. My oldest daughter always joked that someday she was going to live in that house. She never did fulfill her wish.
This is the start of your visit to my world to Kent and my area of Ohio.

Today's Flower #11

My friend Luiz and Denise have a Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 7GMT is the post time.

Today's Flower is the Dollar Princess Bush Fuchsia. I have two hanging baskets on the porch. I love the flower on the Fuchsia and it is very easy to capture for a show. This bloom had three close together.
The baskets are fairly full and continue to put out neat flowers.
This ones flowers is a deeper purple and red then the other.
I have a hard time not showing of it's fancy flower.
The other basket has a lighter purple in the flower.
It also puts on a neat show.
I do hope you enjoyed the Fuschia as Today's Flower.
News I would like to share with my friends in todays flowers:

Camera Critters #28

Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating.

If the fish aren't biting sometimes I go on a camera quest. The nice thing about being in a boat is you are not tied down to one spot. I saw a grey/blue object near shore with a fisherman about 20 foot away. My eyes said Great Blue Heron and my mind said weeds. As I got closer I knew it wasn't weeds. I guess I got too close.
He flew away around a tree covered spine to a back bay because I had approached.
I slowly trolled into the back bay as the bird worked the shore.
He continued to work the shore as I moved with it happily snapping away.
I saw it get ready to strike but nothing happened.
It reached an area and since it had no food to eat and turned to shore.
It got out of the water and walked up on the bank
It headed into the Pine covered spine that separates the bay and the main lake. If you look closely you can see the main lake on the other side.
I went around the spine and found him on the main lake walking back to the bay.
He waded in fairly deep and I decided to let him continue his fishing and I headed home with a camera full of photos.
Thank you mister heron for the close-up meeting. I do hope you enjoyed the amazing encounter with the Great Blue Heron.
