Sky Watch Friday - Year # 4 - Episode # 18

Sky Watch Friday this is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link a 3:00 PM EDT. SWF is run by Klaus, Louise, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.

How do you light a street light on in the daylight, well you have to use the Sun. I thought this hole in the sky with the beam coming through was pretty neat.
My Brother-in-law "Bro" from Texas captured this neat cloud formation one day. Does that white cloud have a halo? Angels in the sky.
You can see a lot of great skies above.

Header Competition # 5

It is time again to change the header. Mac, Tom, Darla and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. Go to the other sites to see their interpretation of Mac's suggestion of a house. Mac has those great places in England to photograph so I wondered what to do. We are keeping it small limited to just to this group.

My neighbor has a bird house, I wondered if that would work. It is in disrepair so I discarded that idea.
I had a photo of a houseboat with a lot of geese. No, that won't do.
How about the lake house I visited this past Spring? No, not that one.
So I decided on a house that really isn't there. You can see the garage entrance and the railing on the roof with an entrance on the far side. The house is completely underground. The people were very energy aware and wanted to insulate the house with the dirt. No windows in this house so it is dark all the time. Definitely something different for the header contest.

What Is It XXXX - Answers

#1 Is a dried fern frown that I saw the other day. Joan got it on the first guess. Check out her contest and answer for this week. The Bug Lady has a neat bug today.
The first three photos are from Triangle Lake Bog.
#2 Is a thistle that has gone to seed. This plant has made a lot of seeds to blow in the wind. Dimple got this early in the guessing. She has an interesting photographic site.#3 Is lichen on a small tree at the bog. Joan also got this one. She was guessing good for certain. This is some unusual lichen and I had hoped to fool you.
#4 Is a Grey Birch from the Kent Bog. They are a common tree in the bog. They form that strange mark in the bark everywhere a branch came out. Dimple also said a Birch Tree so the ladies were victorious.
There were a lot of great guesses and I will choose a winner from all those that had a correct guess by Friday.

#2 Starts to get a little tricky.
#3 Now put on your thinking caps.
#4 Something I'm used to seeing, what about you. I want the kind of tree in case you thought it was something else.
Have fun and get one to get in the drawing.

My World Year # 2 Episode # 5

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Louise, Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Check out the new layout at the My World site.

I spent some time today at the late Fall look at the Kent Bog. Almost all the trees and bushes have lost their leaves. A few Tamarack (Larch) still have a few yellow leaves. You can hit the Kent Bog label and see other season photos.
This was off the raised path around the cranberry bushes. It had been walked on by people.
I stepped on it to show the conditions of the land at the bog. With just one foot of the raised boardwalk you can see the way my foot sunk in and the water creeping around it.
The wetter parts of the bog the area is being reclaimed. This is what is left of a tree stump after a some time. You can see how the moss is feeding off what is left of the tree stump.
This is a complete tree that has fallen and is being reclaimed by the bog.
I do hope you enjoyed the walk and will visit some other places in the world.

Today's Flowers # 65

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time.

This is a Hydrangea from my neighbors garden. It does put out multiple blooms and comes in different colors. Thanks for the help on the name.
There was a little ant on the flower so I had to get a close-up of it.
While I was there I thought on photo of the single flower would be nice.
Visit above to see a lot of great flowers.
