An early morning trip to Lake Hodgson, we have had a cold front conditions but I thought I would wet my line. The lake was calm with a morning mist sitting over it.
The sun rose as I trolled across the lake and I liked this double reflection on the water.

I did manage a nice Large-mouth Bass that gave me a few jumps.

This neat White Crappie also hit my Hot-N-Tot.

It was a fun day and it is always fun to bring some fish to the boat. I also caught a few perch and a bluegill while dragging a worm.

I know I showed my Calla Lilies last year but the bed is a wonderful producer. I mulch it with leaves each year to protect it from the winter and they come back so wonderful each year. I have two types as you can see from the different type leaves.
The Pink Calla Lilies have a solid green leaf.

They put on a wonderful show in the early Summer.

The White Calla Lilies have a green leaf with white spots. You can see a few pink ones close by.

These are a few more critters I saw while visiting The Wilds in Ohio. This is the African Wild Dog. They are in a separate enclosure so as to not feed on the other animals. Click on it and check the fly on its nose. This is a Sable Antelope, what a majestic animal. The tail is up, back up quick.

This is a really fun shot of the Persian Onager. There are only 700 animals remaining in the wild.

You bet I took a lot of Reticulated Giraffe photos. They have the same number of bones in their neck as we do. But theirs are a lot bigger then ours.

This are the Prezwalaski's Wild Horses. They came right beside the bus. The little foal was a cutie.

Friday Fun Photos - The Wilds

Wednesday post was my 750Th and anyone who commented will be allowed to choose a framed photo from my photo collection. I will choose a name in the next few days.

The Wilds is a fun place to go in Ohio. We rode in a open bus and had a neat look at the animals on the open plain. The Asian Rhino were in a lake which are pictured above in the header.

These are the White Rhino family that were wondering the fields. The Sichuan Takin is a strange animal and here are two babies along with the adult.

The Scimitar-Horned Oryx has neat antlers and there is a baby in the grass.

There were a pair of Cheetahs which were caged separately. There were also a the pack of the African Wild Dogs and a pair of Dhole in other enclosures.

The Cheetah is a beautiful animal.

It is a great trip which I would recommend.

Wednesday Potpourri - In Memory Of Mr. Fox

It was last winter when Mr. Red Fox decided to grace this little section of the vegetable garden. He came often and put on quite the show. I could see he was starting to have health problems in the Spring but he still got around well. He was brave and would rest in the Sun out in the open.

I had a hay bale in the corner before I worked on the garden. He liked to use it as a bed.

I dug up the garden for planting and moved the hay bale but he still like to visit. He would just pick a comfy place to lay.

He was having some problems with his coat and leg. He must have been in a territorial dispute with the other foxes in the area. I have seen them and they were much healthier then this one.

You can see his leg in this photo is stiff and damaged.

Rest in peace my friend, you will be remembered as a faithful garden friend.


The next photo is graphic because yesterday I found the back half of the fox in the very place he loved to lay. I moved him into the grass in the back and he was gone this morning.

The other animals had taken their feel of this fox. This is the cycle of life and death. It looks like his health was improving from his tail.
