I have been spending a lot of time on Lake Hodgson. I go out on weekday mornings except on Tuesday when the lake is closed. Being retired gives you certain advantages when fishing. I have been the only one on the lake at times. I caught a least 400 fish in August and the bite is still going on. It should get stronger as we move into the Fall. These are photo from 9/1 when I averaged 30 Black Crappie a day. The cooler lid is 11" wide at the raised top. This is my cleaning station in the shade and a great eating fish it is.
Here is 9/2 and these are a different batch of fish. I do catch White Crappie but they are much rarer then the Black Crappie.
Here is 9/3 and a few of the Black Crappie I caught. This is a 13" wide cooler to give you a feel for the size of the fish. My brother John came over this week and together we caught 45 crappie. I have caught that many myself but it was a great catch under cold front conditions. He really caught two to one more then me on the fish. I was happy they were biting.
See what others have to offer at the site above.

Wow Tom.... Do you all eat THAT much fish--or do you give some away or sell some to local fish markets???? I like fish --but about once a week is enough for me... Hope you have a HUGE freezer... ha
You are one fabulous fisherman!!!!
Betsy
Oh, Wow, indeed! I do hope you have a big freezer, too, Tom, as well as a big appetite for fish! You are definitely a fantastic fisherman! Great captures!! Have a wonderful, fishy week!
Sylvia
Great catch.
That is very, very impressive Tom. I can't think of a nicer way of spending time than in a boat on the water, and then being able to taste fresh fish that you had caught yourself. Splendid!

I can hear that butter sizzling, ready for the clean fish.YUMMY.

It looks as if you've got a great deal of good eating. If you caught too many more in one day you would never get them cleaned.
I wonder, as does Betsy, what you do with all the fish you catch.
Well, Betsy asked my question: who eats all those fish? Do you have lots of relatives, share them with the neighbors, or what?
Anyway, a pretty impressive lineup on that cooler lid.

Wow Tom what a haul you are bringing in lol! I almost feel sorry for the Crappie population!
You are too good. 400 fishes is no small thing.

So what's for dinner? :-)
You certainly caught a lot of fishes! Do you freeze and eat all of them?

So, what DO you do with all those fish?? Everyone wants to know! Great world to live in! I can picture you out there enjoying every moment.
Hi All: To answer the question as to what I do with all the fish. People that are friends of mine don't have to worry about where to get some great tasting fish for eating. I gave a bag to my neighbor yesterday.
I had a dream the other day, that I was fishing. I had barely put the line in the water, when a nice, big bass took the bait. I woke up smiling that morning.
Wow that's a lot of fish. I don't think I've ever eaten crappie. We've been fishing for walleye this summer.. yum!
Ive got the chips Tom, on my way, dont forget the mushy peas too.
Greand display my friend.
That is a great load of fish. Isn't fishing great when they are biting?
I hope your freezer is big enough!
You sure have been doing well at the lake. What a supper you had, too!
You must eat a LOT of fish Tom.
Sounds like you are in Heaven up there on that lake.
If I ever get up that way, you'll have to cook up some of those fish for me. I've never eaten crappie.
My goodness, you should start a fishing shop!
