This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Click to visit other sites.
Our group crossed the Alps into Germany and stopped at Fussen. This is the location of two castles. This first one you see is the Royal Castle of Hohenschwangau. It was made in the 12th century. It was rebuilt by King Maximllian II in the 1830's the father of King Ludwig II.
You then look up on a hill and you see Neuschwanstein's Castle 1869-1886, built by (Mad) King Ludwig II. Some of you who have been to Disneyland may recognize the style of the castle. It was a foggy/rainy day for this photo.
The weather broke as I reached the top of the hill, what a neat place.
The scenery and waterfalls also added to the beauty of the area.
Looking down to his father's castle added to the specialness of this castle. I hope you enjoyed this part of my trip.
You can travel around the world above.

I will always be amazed at the craftsmanship used back in the day before there was so much modern machinery. Their skill is truly amazing. Beautiful places you are visiting. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Your group has had one incredible journey, to be sure. Great shots.
What a wonderful trip you had, Tom! I love that area and visited there several times when I lived in Germany. And Neuschwanstein is fantastic! Terrific photos! Thanks for sharing the fun and the beauty!

Talk about a castle in the sky. A little rainy here in S.E. Ohio but it is spring.. Any golf yet??
Wow! I've never seen a real castle before. Outstanding. Does anyone still live in them? ~karen
It is nice to see this place through the eyes of others.
Wow! That castle in the fog is amazing! What a truly wonderful time for the fog to roll in...
What a beautiful place you visited and such wonderful shots you took.
Wow, can you imagine living in places like that? It really is like a fairytale, especially with the fog.
How beautiful! Definitely on my bucket list places I want/need to see.

Wonderful castles. Like in fairy tales. I visited them some years ago. They are amazing. You would not believe that they are real.

I love that second one Tom and the fog/mist lends so much to the picture. What beautiful country around there.
Amazing shots.. especially the castle appearing out of the mist.
It's amazing how they built them right into the hillside! Love the white castle with the fog.
Did they duplicate the Disney land castle with exact measurement?

The lives of the rich and famous have always been amazing, haven't they? Makes me wonder how many workers carried building materials to these places!

I love everything about the Bavarian Alps! I like your picture of Neuschwanstein's Castle in the fog. I hope one day to visit there again. Bob has never been to Europe, and the last time I was there was in the early 80s.
I am thoroughly enjoying your travels around Europe. The castles are magical!
How incredible! That castle in the fog image is startlingly beautiful. Wow.
Oh that mad King Ludwig! He was always the life of the party...
Great shots Tom! It looks like ie came right out of a fairy tale... Love the castle in the fog!!!
Amazing castles, just I could never envision myself living in one - I think I be cold, lol, just too big. Well, thanks for sharing these amazing structures. Anna :)
excellent shots
A king, and still poor Ludwig can't stop himself from being known as "mad" for eternity. Still, his castle is the archetype, isn't it? So I suppose he has fame as well as infamy.
I love all your photos. It's beautiful country as well as impressive buildings.
I enjoyed your visit to the two castles. The scenery is spectacular even without the castles, but they definitely add to the grandeur.
Oh, I did! I just love castles. Don't we all?! I guess it's the mystery. One day I'll visit too.
You just don't get castles like those too often, like, never out here. Sensational scenery, amazing place.
Love the photo of the castle in the fog -so fairy-tale like. thanks so much for sharing your trip -it was a delight!
Just WOW! Yes I enjoyed this part of your trip!
