Camera Critters # 118 - Whitetail Fawns

The Whitetail Deer are very comfortable in my back yard. I looked out the window on Thursday morning and what did I see but a Mother and a fawn.
But look a little closer and what do you see?
Why there is one right behind the garden with its tongue sticking out. See the little one in the back eating the Hostas flower stem I had cut.
The one near the garden came around the side and was still showing the tongue.
So it moved on and the other was eating a flower stem came around. It was quite the show as they romped in the yard. Why what is this big animal in front of me? Nothing but a tree stump little one.
See a lot of other neat critters at the above site.

What wonderful photographs of the deer! When Bob's brother lived in Virginia, I enjoyed watching for the deer to come into his yard. I haven't seen any deer in our yard; however, I heard that a black bear came strolling through last year. I would have loved to see that (from inside the house of course!).

Tom, you lucky fella! Not once but several times you got quite the show of pictures. You must have a mighty strong lens. One of my babies got hit by a car up the road...so sad.
Love your captures.

When I saw your first photo, and what you'd written, I thought you had missed the third one. That little rascal! LOL

This was a fun series of photos. I love your header photo, too.

Was it sticking its tongue out at you? ;)

I'm surprised to see the fawns still wearing spots. These white-tails sure look different than our mules.

A wonderful encounter, Tom. The young fawns are so fascinating. I love to watch them as they romp and play. I am having trouble getting good portraits as it seems they seldom stand still long enough to fire the camera.

Oh boy... you caught some great shots of the whitetail. It's amazing they come so close. They are a little skittish around here when they have the little ones following them so they stay quite the distance... brilliant shots, my friend!!
