Today's Flowers # 82

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time.

I was at the grocery store and picked a bouquet for my wife. The snow outside needs balanced with some color inside.
The yellow daises were quite nice.
The Peruvian Lillie's really add to the beauty of the arrangement.
I thought this view was neat.
I do like reflections and this was pretty cool with the flowers and vase reflecting on the table.
You can see a lot of great flowers above.

Camera Critters # 99 - Wildlife Feeding

My daughter says these are the best feed Whit Tailed Deer she has ever seen at the end of Winter. If you feed the wildlife they will come to your camera. Proof can be seen below in my city backyard. This was one group of seven that came in to feed from the corn I put out. They also like the bird seed I use.  The deer are herded up into family groups and travel together.
A half hour later this group of 5 came in. There are two mothers and their three fawns. You can see it was headed for darkness and yes they do come in through the night.
I put out corn and bird seed this morning and 5 minutes after going into the house these two youngster came into the yard to feed. You can see the corn I spread onto the benches and on the ground. They are really doing well through the record snow this February.

Go to the main site to see a lot of other great critters.

Sky Watch Season # 4 Episode # 33

Sky Watch Friday this is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link at 3:00 PM EDT on Thursdays. SWF is run by Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.

We had a week of weather with Sun and melting of the snow and ice. It was nice to see the blue skies.
It was still cloudy and things change quickly in North East Ohio. It snowed shortly after this photo. Do you see that big laugh coming out of the clouds. It must be from a pirate because I only see one eye.
But it was nice to have the Sun and a reprieve from all the gray. This was at the pond at the horse farm and you can see the tracks as the horses walked upon the frozen water. You can click the photo for a larger view of the tracks.
You can see a lot of great skies if you visit SWF above.

Header Competition # 20 - See the Birdie

The header theme this week by myself and is "See the Birdie". Mac,TomDarlaMarthaGail's Man and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week.

I wanted to choose the neatest birdie I have seen lately. The Red Bellied Woodpecker on the far feeder. This was the action birdie I really liked.

My House Sparrow certainly was a cute birdie.
This Morning Dove looked like a neat birdie in its snow nest and certainly had a chance.
These Common Grackles where pretty feisty birdies.
Here are a pair of Dark Eyed Juncos. I spilled some bird seed on the deck that brought them in. They are a neat birdie.
Then I thought of this Red Bellied Woodpecker which also came to the bird seed. What great colors on this birdie.
But I chose a pair of Downy Woodpeckers on the suet feeder. They are a really cool birdies. The female was really giving me a look.

This was a morning trip to the Main Street Bridge to see the Cuyahoga River as a train went by. You can see the end of the train on the lower track.

This is looking downstream at The Pufferbelly Restaurant above the tracks. You can also the train car that is used for meetings. The graffiti can be seen on the lower wall. Some of the graffiti is well done.
You can see all the snow on the observation platform.

We are having rain today with more snow coming behind this front.

Today's Flowers # 81 - Datura

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time. Thanks Luiz for featuring my plant on today's Flowers. A Happy Valentines wish to all my friends.

Last week I showed the found Datura that I transplanted last year. While at the hotel we went to in Nashville they had this one in a salmon color. I never realized it was the same flower until I studied the flower closely.
It has the same trumpet shaped flowers and they start out the same yellow color as mine.
This shows you how big the plant can get under greenhouse conditions.
You can see a lot of great flowers above.

Camera Critters # 98 - Squirrels

The heavy snow doesn't keep the Eastern Gray Squirrel from hunting for food.
Up onto the trike for a bite of corn.
What the heck just happened. I was just getting some corn.
This is so cold it makes you close your eyes.
Why Mister Black Squirrel did this to me.
I think I'll just go to the deck and get some needed Sun.
You can see some neat critters above.

Header Competition # 19 - Cinema

The header theme this week by Gail's Man from England and is "Cinema". Mac,TomDarlaMarthaGail's Man and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week.

The Kent Stage was a $1 Cinema when we first moved to Kent. Two theaters so you could catch the shows you had missed. They now have some movies but mostly live shows.
Today the Cinema is on DVD and you can watch Cimema at home. This is a small part of my movies.
You can get quite a collection of cinema to watch when you wish, hello Harry Potter.

My final choice was the Mid Way Drive-In Theater located half way between Kent and Ravenna. The cost is $10 per car load with a double feature. The Drive-In was a big part of my childhood Cinema experience.

Check out the other headers to see how they interpreted Cinema.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 19

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

They have different programs at the Home S&L Plaza at the center of town. This weekend the students from Kent State did ice carvings. I went down the next day and got these photos. This is a big fist.

How about a cold mug for my friends Mac and Tom from England.
A college fraternity sign and a heart for Valentine's Day.
This is an ice formation at my house just for fun. I'm living in an icy world.
Go and visit a lot of great worlds above.

Today's Flower # 80 - Datura - Devils Trumpet

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time. Thanks Luiz for featuring my plant on today's Flowers. A Happy Valentines wish to all my friends.

This past Spring I found this flower in a compost heap at the local city waste recycle yard were I get my free mulch. I dug it up and transplanted it in a low light area by the deck. I thought if it didn't make it I wasn't losing anything. After a few deep waterings it came back to life.
It had just flowered so it set it seeds. I learned it was called a Datura or Devils Trumpet and the plant if ingested was toxic to humans. I handle it with care. The seed pods looked very dangerous and reminded me of the nut of a Horse Chestnut tree.
The Datura prospered in that deck corner and was a prolific bloomer. You can see the white trumpet shaped flowers.
I was pleased with the blooms and the beauty which was shown on this dew filled morning. I now wonder if it will reproduce next year.

I do hope you enjoyed my newly found flower the Datura.

Camera Critters # 97 - Carolina Wren - Take 2

One of my favorite birds is the Carolina Wren. They used to come only once in a while but now that I have a suet feeder they come often. I looked out the window and spotted this little guy.
He certainly had a determined look. They are always very aware of their surroundings.
A Black Capped Chickadee decided to also come in to feed from the seed. It launched itself off the hook headed into the seeds as the wren looks on.
There were a few of the Black Capped Chickadees sharing the area.
The Carolina Wren stopped on the deck railing before heading for parts unknown. They do have beautiful coloring.
You can see a lot of great critters above.

Sky Watch Season # 4 Episode # 31

Sky Watch Friday this is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link at 2:30 PM EDT on Thursdays. SWF is run by Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.

We did have one blue sky morning when the temperatures were cold and the trees in the far field were covered with frost. I love this old shack and the way it keeps falling down. This was looking toward the North but turn around and look below.
Mostly our skies looked a washed out gray. I still think the scene is beautiful looking across the cat tails toward the South.
You can see a lot of neat skies at the main site.

Header Competition # 18 - Circles

The header theme this week by Martha from Florida and is "Circles". Mac,TomDarla, Martha, Gail's Man and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week.

How about the circles in a DVD, I see 11. Who is that unknown photographer in the way. I love the reflections in color. I counted the camera lens, my wedding ring and my Father's graduation ring.
Is this the perfect week for the circles of the Olympic Games. I made a donation to the Olympics committee and got this zip-up pull over with the embroidery. There are 5 rings in color.

My wife bought me a new shirt, this is the front. We live in Cleveland Browns country. There are two rings in the Pittsburgh Steelers emblem.

Here is the back. Rings certainly are circles. My Steelers have  6 Super Bowl Rings.
In the end I had to choose the very special Kent Snow Circles. They could have been made by an alien landing last night during the storm. They certainly were made the same way as the famous crop circles of England. I'm sure the aliens got really cold so left fairly quickly. My only other thought was a couple of dizzy deer. My front bird feeder was emptied last night. You don't suppose the aliens also like the feeders!!!!!!!!!!!!!
