My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 24

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

I went to a presentation while at the sportsman show last week. It was put on by Mike Mordas of Muskie Train Enterprises. He invited me to his shop to see how they made the lures which he sold. Here is what they mainly fish for the Muskie, the king of the waters where we fish. It is a very large predator and can eat most any fish in the lake.

This is Mike on the left and Trent Tesmer on the right. The Mordas Minnow hangs in the middle above them. It is nice to have your name on your own plug.
Trent showed me how they started with a piece of Cedar and cut out the shape on the band saw. They were making a MX-4 which is the Small Minnow Express in the 4" size.
They then take the cutout to the router station and rout them to shape.

Here is the progression trough wood to minnow shape.

They keep the parts in pairs and then glue them together, they are then ready for painting.

This is the finished MX-4 ready to troll and see what can be caught, The price is $15 on this plug and the Musky sizes are more expensive. I wanted a smaller size plug for fishing the Walleye on Lake Hodgson.

I'll have to see how it does this Spring. It is a beauty but catching fish is the true test. Maybe, I'll get to go out with Mike and Trent in search of the elusive Muskie.

On a sad note, one of my best friends growing up, Dave Llewellyn, died this Friday. It was two days before he was to turn 70, way to young to go. He was of Welch decent and is the person that got me into my love of cars and drag racing.  I now have several friends from England because of blogging on our Header Contest.

I will be leaving for Europe on Wednesday so will be off line for a while. This is my first break in a two and a half years of blogging.

Camera Critters # 102 - Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Herons are back in Ohio at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and building their nests.
Sometimes they land way up high and look for a good spot to build.
They are very picky as to the placement of every branch.

Some have paired off and are building the nest as a couple.

While others are just starting.
They are beautiful bird.

You can see a lot of other neat critters above.

Sky Watch Season # 4 Episode # 36

Sky Watch Friday This is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link at 3:00 PM EDT on Thursdays. SWF is run by Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.

The other day I saw the Goodyear Blimp coming over a plaza. I stopped the car as it descended to the top of the plaza which is beside the Kent State Airport. Something nice to add to a pale blue sky.
It got pretty close to the top of the Target store.
You can actually see the pilot in the cockpit under the blimp and a valve for filling the blimp with helium on the Y.

It then went up and away and was moving pretty fast.

A great chance encounter that was a lot of fun.

Header Competition # 23 - Snowdrop

The header theme this week by Mac and is "Snowdrop". Mac,TomDarlaMarthaGail's Man and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week.

Snowdrop, now that is something I've seen a lot of this February. I'll never forget this squirrel had a lot of snow drop on him.

Then I thought of the deer when the snow was dropping pretty good.
But then I realized that Mac was talking about something completely different. A little flower that comes in the spring and the very first to show their face along with the crocus. So here is a Snowdrop (Galanthus) from my early Spring garden.
I only have one plat up and in bloom so I tried to take different angles.

The photo of this Snowdrop was used as my header.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 23

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

I went to a sportsman show this week at the Ohio National Guard Armory in Stow, Ohio. The guard displayed a few pieces of equipment out front of the armory.
I ran into an old friend that had mounted my Fish Ohio Walleye in 2003. His name is Skip Schweitzer and he fishes Lake Hodgson at times. He used to be a sports writer for the local paper and featured me one time. I enjoy seeing Skip every time I meet him. He runs a Skip's Taxidermy in Mantua, Ohio just North of Kent.
This is a pair of fish he caught on Lake Erie. It is a big Walleye and a big Sheepshead (Freshwater Drum). It was a fun day for him.
I also met Jack Kiser who currently writes for the paper and ran the show. He is the founder of Buckeye Angler Multimedia and hosts a TV show. We had a good conversation.
I went to a Muskie Seminar which I will tell about later but thought a neat photo of a Muskie would be cool. They are the biggest fish we have in the area.
There was so many other things going on this weekend to be left for another day. The Ohio State Basketball Team won the Big Ten tournament and heads to the dance with a #2 seed.

Today's Flowers # 84

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time.

The snow is gone so the Spring flowers do appear. The lowly crocus is first to appear. These purple crocus just popped out of the ground as the soon as they could.
The purple crocus is a beautiful flower.
You can see a lot of great flowers above.

Camera Critters # 101 - Cardinals

The Cardinal is a bird that winters over in Ohio. This female came to the feed on my deck rail.
Here is another one with more of the Winter color. They seem to explode in color during the Winter.  They are a beautiful bird.
There were some House Sparrows that visited with her. Can you see the male and the Gray Squirrel in the background.
It looks as if they were talking about this sharing of the food.
The sharing continues with a Mourning Dove getting some feed.
So as to not let the male out of the photos here is one in the snowy trees.

Go to the main site to see a lot of other great critters.

We have had a few clear nights and I made these Moon captures. Here is a moody photo of the Moon through the branches of a tree.
I also captured this Moon as it rose above the trees. Which one do you like best?

See a lot of great sky shots above.

Header Competition # 22 - Under Water

The header theme this week by Darla and is "Under Water". Mac,TomDarlaMarthaGail's Man and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. Mac is back so the contest is at full strength.

Under Water, now that is right up my line. I take a lot of Under Water photos, this is from the Tampa Aquarium, a big Sea Turtle.

And here is a Leafy Sea Dragon, cute one wouldn't you say.
I now have to borrow some lines from Doctor Seuss and his book titled,
"One Fish,

Two Fish,
Red Fish,

Blue Fish"

But in the end, my love of fishing takes over for my header. So here is a photo from trolling around Lake Hodgson, a nice Large Mouth Bass that is still 'Under Water'. That's why I'm known as Fishing Guy.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 22

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

This is the Kent State University Airport located in Stow, Ohio. This town abuts Kent to the West. It,s name, Andrew Paton Field, after the first aeronautical professor at Kent State. The hangar houses the squadron of Cessna's used in training. Thanks to Tom Arbor and Joe Todd for the info.
I was out a few days ago and got one landing.
This was today as they taxied to take-off.
It is in position to go down the runway. There is only one runway. You takeoff and land going North or South.
Most of the planes have blue markings but this one is gold, Kent state's colors.
Check out other peoples worlds above.
