Header Compition #51 - Water Reflections of Inanimate Objects

The header theme this week by myself is "Water Reflections of Inanimate Objects". Mac, Gail's Man, Lanny, Dave and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT and start the voting after that.

Darla, Martha and Tom W are on a break. Come back as soon as you are able my friends.

The island of Lido, Italy brings me a morning reflection of one of the Lido canals.
The pump house at Lake Hodgson was pretty neat.
I really like this rock from the shore at Lake Hodgson.
It has a lot of character.
The final capture for the header comes again from Lido, Italy and a neat boat in the canal.

You can see my friends from the links above.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 49

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Click to visit other sites.

I have been spending a lot of time on Lake Hodgson. I go out on weekday mornings except on Tuesday when the lake is closed. Being retired gives you certain advantages when fishing. I have been the only one on the lake at times. I caught a least 400 fish in August and the bite is still going on. It should get stronger as we move into the Fall. These are photo from 9/1 when I averaged 30 Black Crappie a day. The cooler lid  is 11" wide at the raised top. This is my cleaning station in the shade and a great eating fish it is.
Here is 9/2 and these are a different batch of fish. I do catch White Crappie but they are much rarer then the Black Crappie.
Here is 9/3 and a few of the Black Crappie I caught. This is a 13" wide cooler to give you a feel for the size of the fish. My brother John came over this week and together we caught 45 crappie. I have caught that many myself but it was a great catch under cold front conditions. He really caught two to one more then me on the fish. I was happy they were biting.
See what others have to offer at the site above.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 48

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Click to visit other sites. A Happy Labor Day to all in the USA, a day of rest.

I was on the lake last week when the same big orange buoy was giving another gift. This time a Great Blue Heron was using it as a perch.
I tried the same troll as close as I could to get photos.
But Great Blue Heron are craftier then Cormorants. See what others have to offer at the site above.

Header Competition # 47 - "Change"

The header theme this week by Lanny and is "Change".   MacGail's Man,  LannyDave and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. Dave is on hiatus this week so only 4 of us head-bangers this week.

Darla, Martha and Tom W are on a break. Come back as soon as you are able my friends.

As soon as I heard "Change" I knew exactly what I was going to post for this weeks header contest. Lake Hodgson is ready to go through a dramatic change. Here is a look at the Summer lake.
This is a look at the Fall lake with its dramatic change. This would have been my header. I love the Fall and the fishing that goes with it.
But instead I went creative and so I present my pocket "Change", with a few special coins thrown in to spice up the "Change". Do you see any I wouldn't carry?

See what the others show from the above links.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 47

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Click to visit other sites.

Fishing was slow today for the first time in three weeks so I left early. I was coming off the lake when I spotted a Cormorant sitting on a buoy. I trolled out to see what photos I could get.
As I got closer it gave me a full wing spread. They like to dry their wings on the buoys.
Did you ever see a bird run on water? It did its running take-off which is always cool to capture. The lake is 80 foot deep at this buoy.
Lake Hodgson does give me neat photo opts. See what others have to offer.

Header Competition # 46 - Animal Reflections

The header theme this week by me and is ""Animal Reflection".    MacGail's Man,  LannyDave and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week.

Darla, Martha and Tom W are on a break. Come back as soon as you are able my friends.

I thought this might be of interest. Naturally Lake Hodgson supplied all the photos from fishing trips. The water ripples so sometimes the reflection isn't perfect. The Canada Goose family doesn't care.
An Osprey hits the water to capture a meal, not bad for the boat camera.
A Great Blue Heron wades the shore looking for a meal. I love the mist in the shot.
This on is clear but the reflection is no as good.
The one I chose is the Green Heron shown in Monday's post. It flew from the branch and landed on shore. What a treat it was to get this great reflection.

Go and see what the others came up with for their post. I wonder if there will be any mirrors?

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Click to visit other sites.

I was really lucky to have another close-up opportunity with a Green Heron. I got with-in 5 foot of this bird with a slow and quiet trolling motor approach. Lake Hodgson has given me fish a photo opportunities.
It was pretty brave and posed for me.
After I had chased this bird I was surprised as I was going to the dock to see three more on the bank and wood not far away. Click on the photo to get a better look. Can you see all three?
Check out the site above to see what others are doing.

Camera Critters # 122 - Green Heron

I was out at Lake Hodgson fishing and saw a dark shape near the shore. I was really lucky to have it jump up onto a rock. It was a Green Heron, this is the small heron that I normally see in the trees and it is very good at camouflage. The coloring may fool you but it is a Green Heron for certain.
I was able to move in fairly close with the trolling motor to get these photos.

See a lot of neat critters above.

Header Competition # 43 "Weed or Flower?"

The header theme this week by Lanny and is ""Weed or flower". I chose this in honor of Lanny joining the group. She is always working in the dirt with neat garden beds. She may find this week there are some other gardeners around.  MacDarlaGail's Man,  Lanny and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. Gail's Man is off acting tonight, so he is not posting this week.

Martha and Tom are on a break. Come back as soon as you are able my friends.

I knew exactly what I was going to post this week. After a trip to Lake Hodgson for fishing and photography here is my offering. So is this a weed or a flower?
It has a regal name and a pretty flower. It is Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus Carota), sometimes called Wild Carrot. It has a neat flower.
You can fancy up the photo.
But the shot I liked best is in the header.

See the other neat post above.

Sky Watch Season # 4 Episode # 3

Sky Watch Friday This is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link at 3:00 PM EDT on Thursdays. SWF is run by Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.

I was on Lake Hodgson this morning before 7 AM and the Moon greeted me. We had overnight storms so I didn't know how the fishing would pan out.
A Great Blue Heron flew over the area I was fishing so I took a shot with my Canon A590 boat camera. There was also a seagull above it. I saw an Osprey and a Green Heron but wasn't quick enough because I was fighting fish.
Wind out of the North with a cold front moving through but forty Crappie later, at 10AM, I was headed off the lake and the sky was outstanding.
See all that other offers at the main site.

Header Competition # 42 "How Does Your Garden Grow"

The header theme this week by myself and is ""How Does Your Garden Grow".

So, how does my garden grow? The veggie garden is a jungle, the tomatoes are at 7 feet high and just starting to produce cherry tomatoes. They are well over the cages and the fence. The zucchini are giving me enough to feed the extended family and the green and yellow peppers are going crazy. The peppers are hidden in the middle behind the zucchini which are behind the spreading tomatoes. The white onions in front are almost ready. I can't keep ahead of the weeds with all this fishing.
Fishing is a tough job but someone has to do it. I was the only fisherman on the lake today. This is another place I harvest which is Lake Hodgson. I do this by taking the Black Crappie out of the lake. I caught 23 today with the biggest being 12". They didn't all fit on the cooler. They were all powerful fish.
My header is this little garden area is really neat. I'm sure Darla can help me with the little white with a red center flower which came back from last year. There are hot peppers behind the flowers and in front of a first year red rose. I like to keep the hot peppers separate because of cross pollination with the sweet peppers. I also have a couple pink Gerber Daisy and some Calla Lilies near the house. The Black Squirrel, bunny, frog and the Raccoon guard the area. Can you see them all?

See the other neat post above.

I was fishing this morning and heard the woosh-woosh sound of a hot air balloon. It was just taking off and it rose above the lake. It was quite the show. Not bad photos for my lake camera a Canon Powershot A590.
Here is a close up of the balloon.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 36

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Click to visit other sites.

I went fishing today and there was one other boat and a couple of Great Blue Heron
and a Seagull was getting the minnows I had lost off the water. He is ready to dive in.

The fishing was good and wet.

This deer came into the yard to check out the feeders. I was fishing so they were empty.

See a lot of other neat worlds above.

I went fishing today with Soccer Boy, my youngest grandson. The only other one fishing near us was this Great Blur Heron who was wading pretty deep.
Schools out and I put Soccer Boy to work at the oars.

We got 19 Crappie and two Perch.
Soccer Boy caught the biggest one of the day.

See all the great sites above as people show you their worlds.

Header Competition # 33 - Trees

The header theme this week by Tom W. and is "Trees". Mac,TomDarlaGail's Man and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. Martha is on a break.

How could I show trees without including my Ohio Buckeye Tree.
Lake Hodgson was quite beautiful and tree lined.
My final choice was a Spanish Moss covered tree from Mexico. The Peacock may have had some influence on me having this photo and my header.
Check out the other headers for some neat trees.

I finally went fishing on the boat this week. This is a sky photo that was full of white clouds above Lake Hodgson. I like the way the clouds melt into the trees at the far end of the lake. This the same sky as in my header after the cold front brought the clouds to the sky.
There was a cold North wind but a beautiful showing of white clouds all over the lake. This is a view looking North toward the dam.
You can see a lot of great skies at the link above.

Header Competition # 29 - Tools of the Trade

The header theme this week by Mac and is "Tools of the Trade". Mac,TomDarlaMarthaGail's Man and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week.

I'm retired so the tools of the trade consist of my truck and boat trailer for getting me to the lake.
My boat is how I get around on the water. It is loaded with my fishing tools. Whoops, one of my cases fell over. You can see trolling motor, fish finder, poles, net and oars. All are tools of my trade.
The header is my boat at the dock on Lake Hodgson ready to take me to catch fish. It didn't work today, we had a 10 MPH North wind and 32 degrees F last night with a heavy frost. It was rough on the water.

Sky Watch Friday Season # 4 Episode # 15

Sky Watch Friday this is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link a 2:30 PM EDT. SWF is run by Klaus, Louise, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.

A final look at Lake Hodgson across the dock with the colors of the trees in full bloom. I am looking at the West shore of the lake.
This is a man made lake and you can see the dam at the North end of the lake. It flows into Breakneck Creek which flows North then West until it reaches the Cuyahoga River as it flows South. The show in the Fall is so beautiful at the lake but the weather is changing and it makes it so hard to fish from a boat.
See a lot of other great skies above.
