The theme this week by Christine is "Welcome Home". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew, Christine and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.
Well Christine, how do you show Welcome Home? I had to do some real thinking to show this theme. There is one welcome home that I'm amazed with every year. The heron rookery is empty during the winter. Every Spring a lot of photographers welcome the Great Blue Herons back to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. They come back to where they were born. The building of the nest complete the males welcome the females home to the nest to lay their eggs.
They are always heading out for food.
This is a young one fledged and get ready to head for the sky.
They are on the hunt, I enjoyed this one walking a log through the swamp.

I was lucky enough to attend the wedding of one of my wives students at Kent State. Janine is a wonderful young lady and I got to watch the pro photographer take photos. I had my camera so was able to some shots showing romance after the wedding. Keith helped Janine across the grass.
What a fun wedding party.
Everyone was having fun.
How about that romantic pose.
Inside cutting the cake, they behaved.

The theme this week by me is "Dragonfly or Damselfly". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.
I love to photograph these little creatures in such great colors. I chose as my header a head on view of a brown dragonfly in my Ohio Buckeye Tree. It was very co-operative to allow for a head on view. You can see the eyeball looking at the camera. You can see the buckeyes on the tree behind it.
I was thinking of going with our flag colors of red,
white and
blue until I chose the brown one.
I also had a gold one captured.
These blue damselfly like to come aboard my boat.
This black damselfly was in my backyard.

The theme this week by Kathy is "Volunteers". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.
When I think of Volunteers I think about our military personnel. Every 4TH of July we honor these people with a parade. This is a famous scene with the flag raised on Iwo Jima during World War II on February 23,1945 was what I chose for my header.
Here are some of the vets who may have been drafted or were volunteers.
Today's volunteers in a Humvee.

The theme this week by Lew is "Butterflies". Mac, Kathy, Craver, Lew and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.
This is a neat subject. I went fishing today and guess what decided to ride with me for a short time. I was able to get this butterfly in several parts of the boat. It landed on a towel on a seat, I thought this was some interesting color combinations. It was tasting the yellow towel.
It was opening and closing its wings.
It went over to a trolling rod holder.
It then went upside down for a show.
It finally went to the rear wooden panel to show off.

Yes, I said what is this. It means to make money in any possible way. I don't know how Mac found the word but I can't pronounce it. So here is a way I saw people making money. Every Saturday ,through the Spring, Summer and Fall, there is a farm market under the Haymaker Parkway Bridge. I captured some of the ways people were making money. I went to the market to see how they were making money.
