Camera Critters # 114 - Canada Geese

The Canada Geese do go through a cute phase as babies. As goslings they are dressed in yellow are are so neat.
The Canada Geese parents try to protect the goslings and only need a small pond to teach them how to swim. There are six goslings in this family.

The Canada Geese Goslings start to feed on the grasses along with their guardian parents. Do you see a bonus bird in the photo?

See a lot of other neat critters above.

Cute, lil ones Tom.

As the Heron looks on. The gooslings are adorable and probably don't leave behind as big of squishy green poops. ;-)

Is that a blue heron in the background?
The baby geese sure are cute, I agree.

I LOVE the Canadian geese. We would see their families often while on our fishing vacations in north Minnesota. I miss them. A few couples stop by my folks farm pond, but never more than one pair stays. Thanks for the flashback of a much missed time.

These guys are just gorgeous. I love the babies. Every phase of their growing up is beautiful in some way--even those awkward "teen" weeks.

A beautiful series, Tom. I see the heron in the background, but I likely would have missed it had you not mentioned to look as it blends in very well.

I took some photos of juvenile gees today too. They really are fun to watch. And they are so well behaved! An adult orders and they move as a group in the direction they are told to go. It's amazing, actually.

I see the bonus bird! How'd you manage to get so close to that Heron without it flying away??? They always fly away before I can even get close enough for a photo.

I like your "bonus' bird. The other day one of ours was in the top of a fir tree, he was camouflaged against our grey sky.

Our Canada geese are doing quite well this year. I'm thinking we are looking at a build up of our resident flocks, we used ot have a lot of them but then they seemed to have found a better spot, now they are beginning to come back. I wonder if it has something to do with the lack of labradors running around the farm?

Beautiful shots. I see we were both admiring geese this week. I love your Great Blue Bonus Bird. :)

I love seeing the goslings. I have been saddened on my nature walks though because so many of them are no longer. I know this is normal but still it is sad to me especially when I watched one set of parents that had had three calling for them. Great shots and love the Heron in the background of the one image.

I am in love, spring is in the air. I love your goslings. I also like the lily in your newer post.

from gloomy cold wet winter in New Zealand.

Oh how this post makes me so very happy indeed! I could not help but stare for so long at these little critters. The weather here has been horrible. Rains and rains have been falling endlessly and it has been very cold however we have now a break and warm weather has creeped in for a couple days giving some relief to the poor critters out there. Again, such beautiful photos, Tom!
