In 1961 10 Black Squirrels were brought from Canada to Kent State University. They brought 10 more later and they were very successful. It now the most prevalent squirrel in Kent, Ohio. Here is one in the Ohio Buckeye Tree in my front yard. They have expanded throughout Portage and Summit Counties.
The second most prevalent is the Eastern Gray Squirrel. They live side by side and get along well.
The rarer Fox Squirrel live in the more open golf course areas of Kent. They have been completely chased out of Kent State University. The Red Squirrel is in the county but I have never seen on in Kent. I saw this one at Herrick's Fenn which is owned by Kent State.
Here is a Black Squirrels on my back deck.
The Black Squirrels are aggressive and hit the bird feeders and knocks the feed to the ground.
See what the others show on my side bar.
