The Power of the Cuyahoga River

I took quite a few shots shots of the Cuyahoga River while gathering photos for my bridge series. The river is neat to see during this high flow condition. I enjoy the flow around the bridge pilings. The name Cuyahoga is pronounced KI-a-HO-ga and is Indian word for crooked. The power of the river is shown as it overflows the river islands.
This is the shallowest area of the river and it is wide and fast.
This is a walkway down to the rivers edge to get close to the river. It is definitely not recommended for use right now.
This is a little further downstream and the river is going into a yard. The house is quite safe at this time.
I enjoy walking the Cuyahoga River with all the beauty it shows.

Running right good when you captured these images. Guess you can't wait to go fishing when around so much water. Good weather is just around the corner. Blue Skies.

I grew up near a river and am always mesmerized by the flow. Especially when it is high.
Don't try to stop it and don't get in it's way!

Those are wonderful pictures of the Cuyahoga. I have to admit it looks much different from the river I saw in Cleveland in the 1960s.

Aren't rivers wonderful??? I grew up playing in a river, fishing on its banks, and tripping over the twisted roots of the trees that leaned over the water. I loved the swirls, the fast parts, the falls, and the slow-moving pools with their shy fish and syrupy soil.

You've done a lovely job of capturing the beauty of a swollen river.

I hope everyone living around the river is safe!

I do love a fast running river, but here in Australia, Queensland, one of our largest states is many feet under water, with unfortunate loss of life not only for the few humans swept away , but thousands of farm animals and wild life.

I would hate to land in that stream Tom. It will carry away even the strongest of swimmers.

I really like the fourth photo down, with its shadows, reflections, colors, and composition. Somehow, it even looks inviting to follow the walkway down even though it leads straight into the water. Must be that rarity called sunshine. As a fellow Ohioan, I've walked by the Cuyahoga before, but never at Stow. Thanks for sharing these new views of a familiar place.
