Texas Trip Part 2 / Wednesday Potpourri

Those of you who follow my site know I was in Texas visiting my Brother-In-Law and family. While I was there I decided to visit an artist friend of mine from Bastrop, Texas. Jo Castillo and her husband Gene met at a little cafe called Gracie's for lunch. Jo has a neat art blog and does a lot of work in pastels. I visited her studio and had a great time getting to know someone I have enjoyed meeting through my posts and her husband is such an interesting guy. Jo did a really nice write-up from my trip which can be seen here. She honored me with some refrigerator magnets of her work. You can get a feel for what a neat artist she is from them.
The town of Bastrop, the second oldest in Texas, is really neat. Jo showed me the downtown's old buildings which were really neat. If you click on the photos the one building is from 1883.
The photos for my Wednesday Potpourri are from my back yard. My boat caught the Sun and it melted it into a strip. New snow last night makes my boat look like it has a Mohawk style on top.
The deck is still piled high with snow with even more to come.
Do you want to check out another neat site. Rob from The South Florida Watershed Journal has an interesting post today about his theory on Punxsutawney Phil and the 6 more weeks of Winter. The Steelers did bring sunshine for three days to NE Ohio.

Hi there, thank you for the link and for the visit. It was great fun to meet you and spend some time together. It looks very cold there. We have still had great weather, able to walk the golf course and paint outside. There are folks in your neighborhood that paint outside in the snow. One was saying he had found snowshoes for his easel. That is dedication!

Sorry to hear about your new snow. It's been quite a winter, hasn't it.
You certainly had an interesting Texas trip. Thanks for telling us about it.

Wow! That is a a reality check seeing that snow, and no doubt a change in scenery from the dusty part of west central Texas. Still thinking about that 4th quarter ... it was one for the ages, but have you notices: all the Super Bowls have been close in recent years. And special thanks for posting link!

Tom, Glad you got to meet a fellow-blogger while in Texas. How special!!!! Hope George and I will get to meet you someday!!!

I cannot believe the amount of snow you have had this winter. Is this typical--or worse than usual????

We have had a little snow off and on for about 3 days--but it's moved east now. AND--it's supposed to get much warmer this weekend. Yeah!!!!

Stay safe and warm.
Betsy

How wonderful to meet a fellow blogger in person.
Bastrop looks like a wonderfully restored town in which to visit.
I've been visiting Rob's blog for awhile and I've seen his post on Phil and the Steelers. It was quite humorous.
We got more snow today too and cabin fever is starting to set in!

A john boat with a mohawk, that's funny! I'd be naming it Mr. T.

Well, I'm going to stop complaining about how cold it is outside in Virginia after seeing you snow photos. Golly, we haven't had more than a dusting of snow here. I'll have to check out the blog you mentioned. I LOVE ART!
