Wednesday Potpourri

Wednesday Potpourri finds me with a lot of bird photos from a fairly good photo opt week.

My friend Shelly from Michigan sent Bob, her dove, down for some photos. He started out shy and stayed by the street at first. He did give me that I'll be around look.
Bob is very photogenic and Shelly has trained him well. He came the next day and posed in my Ohio Buckeye Tree. Note that the tree is starting to bud and will wait until the weather warms before going into action.
I went to one of my favorite flooded fields and the Canadian Geese were putting on quite the show. They were none to happy with the racket the other flock was making and let them know in no uncertain way. Please note the aggressive posture. The ducks behind could care less.
The neighborhood sparrows were very nice to pose. This guy got close to me.
This may be a female but the more sutler colors. Then again it may be a different type.
I have a lot more bird shots from this week and will try to post some on Friday. It was nice to have the sun for a short time.

LOL!! I wondered where Bob was! His poor was wife Mary has been building a nest all by herself! Great photos - you did Bob justice! :)

These pictures are so adorable. It always amazes me how hardy some of the smallest birds are!

Great bird photos here. No disrespect intended, I believe it the common name is: Canada Goose/Geese, Scientific name: Branta canadensis.

That was nice of Shelley for sending Bob down to Ohio for a visit.. She has trained him well.

Do you want me to send my Red-bellied, Pete (or Petunia) to visit you sometime??? I have trained them well also.

Have a great evening..
Betsy

Absolutely love the bold expressiveness of the Canada Geese! Good thinking to sandwich them between the gentler doves and sparrows.

Nice pictures, FG. I was a little surprised to read that Shelly had to send a bird down from Michigan for you to photograph, but that was nice of her. How are you fixed for pine siskins? We have plenty we could send up to you!

Great photos. But what I want to know is did Bob leave his mark for you like he does for Shelley?

The bottom bird is a female house sparrow or looks like it to me.

I like the Canada Geese. They are often very loud if disturbed. Nice shots.

Tom, Great pictures of the Mourning Dove. Are those Chipping Sparrows? We have them out here but they don't appear to be quite as dark. My first experience with Canada Geese was on a golf course in near Ft. Collins, CO many years ago. That is when I learned the meaning of "s--t like a goose". All the photos were great. Love the Doe and fawn you sent us.
