Today's Flowers # 90 - Orchids

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time.

I was over to my daughter's office because her orchid is blooming.
It certainly has a beautiful flower.
She also had another plant in bloom. She called it Peter in the Pulpit. It had a hooded green bloom which started white.
Here is a look at the final bloom. It is called spathphyllium per Carver & Lorac. It is also called a Peace Lily.
You can see a lot of great flowers above.

The close-up picture of the orchid is lovely! I hope you visit with your daughter when you go to the office to take pictures of her flowers!;-)

The orchid is so beautiful. I also love the other plant. The other plant looks like what we call a Peace Lily (spathiphyllum in the family araceae). I looked and since Anthurium is a genus in the araceae family, the Peter in the Pulpit may be related to the Peace Lily. They look very similar to me. I couldn't find anything about Peter in the pulpit.

Aren't they lovely. The second we call spathphyllium.

What a gorgeous orchid, Tom! Very nice shots of the Peace Lily too. They're such interesting looking plants. My grandmother used to have two of them in her garden. I've never tried to grow them.

The orchid and the lily is so beautiful. Both plants thrive well here due to the tropical climate.

Peter in the Pulpit: I knew this orchid as North Borneo orchid. Apparently it came from the mountians there. My dad grew it and it was more than 6 years before it bloomed. It was very rare in the 60s, Now you can find them every where.

I like the Pease lily. I grew them in Singapore when I was the secretary of the NTU (Nanyang Technological univerty) gardening club.

Thanks for sweet memories

Very pretty!
I have two of those Peace Lillies. They were almost dead, my fault, I kept forgetting to water them.
Anyway I just repotted them and put them where I'll see them everyday. Maybe now I can keep them alive awhile longer. LOL
