Feathers

The theme this week by Gail is "Feathers" Mac, Chris,Kathy, GailRich  and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. We now post anytime before 4 PM EDT on Wednesdays and voting begins after that.

This week is Gail's last week. She chose a theme that was right in my wheel house. I love nature and birds and have a lot to choose from. I have some recent photos with lots of feathers. There is a lot of shedding of  the geese this week as they are fledged.  I got this shot on the water.
I enjoy the Great Blue Heron and all its shows of the feathers.
The mallard female has great feathers.
What I always think about are the Peacock showing its feathers in Mexico.
They were wild and could fly where thy wanted
There feathers put on a wonderful show.
Dancing around showing off their feathers.
Turn some more please.
I moved to frame it in the gate.
What I chose for my header is the reason for the feathery show with the female he was strutting to attract.
See what the others have to show at the above links.

You're lucky to see so many different types of birds on your travels. I tend just to see pigeons, magpies and now Canada geese.

I love Peacocks, very dramatic looking birds. Although I prefer the 7th image that you have put on '(Turn once more please) rather than your header one Tom. I think the female in front of the male is a little distracting on this photo. Very well captured though, he's certainly got very beautiful plumage!
Even though I wont be participating in the furture, I'll be still be checking your blog out now and again, so keep up the good work.

It's a remarkable creature, and these are excellent photos. I especially like the Great Blue Heron because I tried to take a picture of one from this area, and it was not an easy feat.

Hi Tom,
I was happy to see your comment on my blog today. Hope you're doing well.
Nice shots of the peacock - a majestic bird when those feathers are spread.

We recently visited our son in Arlington, VA and on one particular day I thought of you. We saw a black squirrel in the backyard. Only one quick blurry shot with the wrong lens but I was so excited to see it having watched yours all these years. :)
