Camera Critters #43

Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating.

I just got back from a trip to the Austin,Texas area so I'm sharing a pair of House Finches which I saw on the trip. This is the male in the tree.
The female was also in the same tree.
This was the next day and the male was on a ceiling fan on the deck. I really enjoy the red in the male.
The female also was on the same fan in a different position. They are neat birds.
Be sure to visit the web site to see a lot of neat critters.

FG,
Glad to hear you were able to get away from all that snow and nasty temps for a while. Mr. Finch looks quite happy on that porch fan. They are quite colorful..and usually quite friendly around the feeders, also.

Bet you enjoyed the Texas weather, Tom. Do you have relatives there??? I think the hill country of Texas is the prettiest area in that state.

Great pictures of the House Finches.
Hugs,
Betsy

I am glad you are back Tom. The finches come in so many colors and are really cute birds. I hope you had a great trip and am glad to know you arrived back safely. I would not want to be traveling on those roads.

Hey Tom, great captures of the House Finches! That male sure is red! According to Cornell, the male color comes from pigment in the food he eats. The redder the male, the more attractive he is to the female.

Those females, they just like us for our looks ;-)

Good job, that's quite a big difference between the mail and the female.
