Ice Storm Tonight

Our weather has been so inconsistent. It was only last week at this time we hit 63F and the next day we got 6" of snow. The back yard turned into a Winter wonderland. My boat is in the water but isn't floating. It is carrying the snow cover. The deck has a nice coating of snow.
The back yard is nicely decorated. As you can see it was snowing as i took the photo and the window has some big snow flakes attached.
The weather being so up and down caused some large ice cycles on the roof of the house. This is the South side of the house and a bright Sun can cause melting and refreezing.
Check out the pink skies at sunset putting on a show.
Tonight I sit with an ice storm outside and there is black ice everywhere. The Interstate Highway 77 that I went to Canton on is shut down to traffic and there have already been four fatalities in Ohio tonight. Ice is way worse then snow to drive on and the state is getting hit hard. We will have to see what the morning brings.

Great photo's of the wacky weather!
We had freezing rain most of the day here. It is warming some and thawed but expecting some snow tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing.
Be Safe!!

Tom---We're having nothing but heavy RAINS here in TN. We haven't had this much rain in a long time. We needed rain--but enough is enough!!!! ha ha..

Hope your ice doesn't get worse and break the tree limbs and power lines, etc.

Crazy Weather!!!! Mercy Me!
Betsy

Those icicles are treacherous. Don't walk out of the house without a hard hat! The best days of winter to me were the ones where it snowed and then stayed cold.

well...thought I was going to get lucky enough to have a delay...no such luck...though it's slick here, the temp is rising and nuthin' will most likely stick.

Your photos and narrative were a good see/read. Thankx!

I hope you don't have to drive anywhere out on those icy roads! Stay warm and safe! Liked the icicle photos.

I know! The weather is crazy this year. Sunshine, rain, thunderstorms...
I miss breaking off an icicle and eating it like a popsickle. Haven't done that since I moved South.

Tom, I agree that there is nothing worse than ice, especially as far as driving is concerned. I hope you don't have to go out in the stuff.

We were suppose to get ice last night & today, but it missed us - Thank GOD! BE CAREFUL & GOD BLESS!!!

Those are some kind of icicles! we are getting the rain now that was ice and snow at your place, but it is just at freezing here and I don't think we will have ice. A little further west there has already been some ice.

We just got rain all day here. I'd love to see some snow but not that black ice.
Stay warm and safe.

It's hard to imagine all that snow and ice. I suppose you get tired of the snow where as we'd like to see a little here. Enjoyed your pictures. We are having a "Rainy Night in Georgia".

I will take sunny, HOT South Africa and day Tom. I think I would freeze my butt off there. :) Those icicle shots are terrific.

Splendid series of photos of the snowy weather, Fishing Guy.
Today here in Turin snow is falling in large flakes!

We are having rain, rain and more rain. You mentioned 77. I hated that interstate when I rode my Harley. I have a Heritage, which is NOT rubber mounted, like the other new Harley's (early 1990's), and I77 has a bump to it every 20 ft that by the time I got to the end of it my teeth were jarring. When somebody said let's go to Ohio I would say "can we go a different way?"

Boy, I am long winded tonight, sorry for the long comment.

Leedra said...

Whoops, I HAD a Harley. I don't ride anymore. I photograph everything now instead!

Where I live I don't get snow at all ... cold, cloudy, mist and rain that we have and quite a lot.
Od course, we also get sun most of the year!

Those are fabulous snow photos and very well done icicle photos.

Looks like you got more snow than we got. Our snows follow a line along old US Route 40 or the new I-70. If we get snow and we live south of both roads, then those living north don't get any or not as much. It is a peculiar thing of Nature I guess. The weather forecasts are something else and they always talk about north of I-70 or south of I-70 and the land is as flat as any cornfield.

I still have the old blogs but I also have new ones Abe Lincoln Blogs and also look at Abraham Lincoln's Blog

Pretty snow and icicles. When I was real little I'd beg Pap to stop on the side of the road whenever I saw big icicles to get me one. Sometimes he did! Stay safe and warm.

Sure makes my little dust of snow look pathetic! What long icicles!

Oh! You have a very heavy winter in the USA! Enjoy the beauty of the snow but it must be extremely cold outside...

Sorry about the ice. We have those here every 5 years or so. Beautiful but dangerous. Take care!

Sounds like you might have more soft snow than ice now...don't think I should be grumbling about our fizzler of a summer though after seeing your freezing pics! :D
