I am moving away from Kent for one week to go 20 miles to the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. This is the entrance off the main road George Halas Drive.
There is a historic marker in the parking lot.
This is a look of the building from there.
This is the main entrance of the building with the unusual domed roof which you can see from Interstate 77 in Canton.
In the foyer there is a full size statue of Jim Thorpe. It turned sideways on me for some reason. I took this from the ramp to the second floor.
This is what it is all about; The Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Then there are the Super Bowl Rings and a display of all of them. I'm bias toward the Pittsburgh Steelers which can be told by my photos.
It starts out with a look at the beginning's of football such as this uniform which could have inspired George Lucas for Star Wars.
These are some of the helmets over the years.
There is a bronze bust of all the inductees. Arguably the best quarterback ever Terry Bradshaw. He won four super Bowl Rings.
Here is Bill Cower on a theater which has two screens and turns you 180 degrees from one to the other.
Each team was honored with their record of accomplishments. Gerome Bettis was honored here. Thanks to Mojo for the correction.
Part of the steel curtain was Mean Joe Green.
They had several players enshrined with there own locker area.
There was a section of war honorees but none was more moving then Pat Tillman. He gave his life in Afghanistan defending his country. He volunteered to leave his football career to serve.
There is no way to show you everything but if you are a football enthusiast you can spend most of the day wondering through the displays, watching the films and checking out the gift shops. Go and visit some other fun world displays.

Oh--as much as I like football, I would love to see this place. Maybe George will take me sometime!!!!
You would love my great friend Pat. She lives in TN now--but still LOVES the Steelers. I had to rib her a bit when my Titans beat the Steelers recently.

Great post! And very timely. We seem to have one football game after another for the past week. College, professional...it's all about football!
Of course, we took a break from football last night to painfully watch the UNC TarHeel basketball game. Ouch!
What a fun post! I'm not a big fan of football, but I do love history and this was wonderfully interesting.
I remember hearing the news of Pat--so young and handsome, and with so many tributes to what a wonderful man he was. How good to see that the memories of the war heroes are kept here too.

I had no idea professional football started in Canton, Ohio. Just learned something!
I hate football, but if I were to half-way like it, I would cheer for Steelers, and Terry Bradshaw is my favorite. So a post that normally wouldn't have been somewhat interesting to me was very interesting because your favorite team is the right one!

That's an interesting museum dedicated to football. It's strange that what we call football, is called soccer in the USA. Thanks for sharing.

My nephew are football mad right now, but I do not understand the game at all. Your pictures are interesting. The Pat Tillman story was told here in Canada too...a real hero.
Am I remembering things wrong, or does your photo of the Franco Harris display feature a very prominent photo of Jerome Bettis? Didn't Harris wear the number 32? Or have too many of my brain cells been lost to Halfheimers?
I was surprised when I read how relatively new the Hall of Fame is. I'm actually older...
My kid brother has been there and Cooperstown, but I'm holding out for Toronto and the Hockey Hall of Fame. Someday.
Interesting to see the Hall of Fame on a post, I see it so often. It's 30 miles from my home and we pass it every trip back to the Cleveland area where I'm originally from. Haven't been there since I was a child! Great images you have presented.

ah that was the cradle I was born in!!:) you made me so smile:) Thanks for posting My hometown --I have many of those same photos but notice the front sign is newish --Next door is my HS I was in the first graduating class there in 1977 and swam 3 x a day in the Natatorium thanks for the peek of home I will be going there soon
Fun, isn't it? Though when I was there the place was a little out of date and run down. I was surprised an organization with the resources of the NFL didn't invest more in maintaining and updating the Hall.
But it's still interesting. Your photos turned out much better than mine.
Wow. What a fantastic tour. I prefer proper football myself which you call soccer but I did follow grid iron for a while a few years back with my favourites being the Redskins. What a fantastic place to visit and such history.

Yes - football! They are making a artificial grass for football just near our house :)
But in this moment it is under ice and children are playing ice hockey there.
But did you ever have fished through an ice, you could do that on "our" lake just now ! Welcome!

What a very interesting hall! There surely are lots of information for football fans! I am more of a basketball and tennis fan, but if I visit this place I might as well appreciate this game!

We live about an hour away from the Football Hall of Fame and I have never been there. It would be a wonderful activity for my husband and our boys (who all love football.)

More learning for this recent North American transplant - thanks. I went to my first Football game here in Toronto last year. Had no idea what was going on - I've learned a bit more now.
Mike will like this...have to pass it on to him. I'm not much for watching football but hope the Colts are in there somewhere :-) Wonderful set of photos to whet our appetite to see the real thing. Will have to add it to our next Ohio trip.
