Tonight for my Wednesday Potpourri I'm going to Jan 1, 2009.
Becky from Twisted Fencepost posted her first kiss with the Captain. This brought back memories of the first time I met my wife. We both went with separate friends to a record hop back in the 50's. I know I wasn't driving yet so it had to be 50 years ago. I told Becky I remembered my first dance with my wife. I was the brave guy out of our crew at dances so I saw this cute girl and asked her for a dance. She accepted and we had our first dance of many to follow. We danced to Dion and the Belmont's singing "Where Or When", I hope you hear it then listen to Josh Turner singing about my "Soul-mate". Somethings you never forget when you meet your soul-mate.
My pictures tonight go back to New Years Eve and the weather was a little rough. It was cold and snowy. Wait, it is still cold and snowy. I guess this weather came in with the New Year. This Global Warming is tough when we are to go to a low of -4F tomorrow night. Just think how cold it would be. We went to the Tangier's Cabaret for a buffet and band show.
We were dressed for the occasion and my wife's eyes after the operation were almost healed.
The Tangier's was decked out in Christmas regalia.
The buffet was loaded and you had to get enough to eat.
The band show was a jazz band called Charisma with some neat music. They had both a man and women lead singer so could do a lot of jazz tunes. The band leader on keyboard was once with The Commodores.
It was a fun time watching all the action and the different couples. New memories made and cherished.

Oh what a fabulous story, Tom.. Almost made me cry. My first marriage was not with my soul-mate. I met my soul-mate at age 59.. I have alot of years to make-up!!!!! You and your sweetheart are so blessed to have been together for so long --and still love each other so much. That is a fabulous picture of you two...CONGRATS.
Hugs,
Betsy
Nice evening out, and new great memories.

What a great post about meeting your soul mate. I distinctly remember 'Where or When'. By the way, global warming is reaching down into Tennessee. Weather.com is calling for temperatures of -4 for us Thursday night. I moved down here to get away from those temperatures.
Look at you all slicked up!!
Nice!!
But I have to admit...
The prettiest adornment is your wife and that big smile she's wearing.
Here's to many more happy years together!
Oh that was a great post and I love the music. You have a beautiful wife! Ya'll are a very handsome couple.
Fantastic post, Fishing Guy.
Tangier's Cabaret looks very comfortable: I'd like to be there and listen to the Charisma Jazz Band!
What a wonderful story Tom. You and Mrs T make a beautiful couple. Thanks for sharing your story and the other pictures.
Oh, the story you weaved with the photos. Just super, Fishing Guy! I nominate you and your beautiful wife for poster couple for a successful and very happy marriage! P.S.
It is very cold here in Virginia now too but no snow. All the local folks I talk to say that they are staying home to watch the inauguration on TV like the rest of the country. Virginians can't take a car into D.C. so the subway will be a crowded nightmare. Plus they are not allowing any water bottles or umbrellas or baby strollers.
There is real fear in the air that something domestic or foreign could disrupt this happy day. Divers will be diving down into the waters around all the bridges leading into D.C. to check for bombs, etc. Millions and millions of dollars are being spent on security. I hope all goes well next Tuesday. (I think I got carried away here worrying about next Tuesday.)
Have a good Thursday and a great weekend. P.S. I liked learning that you like jazz music as well as country music. I like the old jazz folks like Louie and Ella.
Awww - That is sooo adorably sweet!!! They don't make men like you anymore!!!!!!!!! I know this, because if they did... I would FIND HIM & MARRY HIM!!!!
Wonderful! I love to hear about soul-mates and happy marriages! Blessings on lots more happy years together. How wonderful that you remember so many details because the times were so special.
How much fun!! You two are an adorable couple and it's so easy to tell how much you love her by the way you write about her.
Wow you and your wife looke spiffy! I'm glad you had a good time-and I so enjoyed hearing about your first dance.
HI FG,
I enjoyed reading your memories and can tell by your lovely wife's and your smiles that you two still have that magic. (It was recently my husband's and my anniversary and we love to dance (ballroom, jitterbug, Latin, etc.) to what music from way before our time moreso than the music we grew up with.)
oops, I meant to wish your wife a complete recovery. I'm still rather new to your blog, so I'm not sure what type of eye surgery she had. Hope all will be well once she's healed.
Memories made and cherished.. what more do we need.. thanks Tom..
Beautiful couple and nice memories. Lucky you!
Your photos in the previous post are coooooool, well, it looks cold. It was about 28 on our coldest night this week and that was plenty cold for me. :)
Thanks for posting. That was informative.
