When I was down in Texas this year I was able to capture some House Finches. I didn't know what they were but did get some help in identification. Now that I know I can look at this great little bird and spot them right away. Here are group in the trees along Fishcreek's little stream.
The males are quite showy and stand out in the branches.
There were several males trying to impress the ladies. If you click on this one you can see two males and two females.

Your House Finches look great. The males are so colorful.

And so we learn a new ID every time until we have built up a long list of birds we can identify. Lovely shots Tom.
Gorgeous Tom. We've got them here now.. They may have been here before--but I get them mixed up with the Pine Siskins in the winter. Once their colors show, I can recognize them. The females are plain-looking though---and I really struggle telling them apart from the Siskins... Fun Fun!!!
Have a great day tomorrow.

Betsy
A lovely little guy!
Fishing Guy, these are very lovely photos of the House Finches. I like the way you frame the images.
They are pretty little birds...I am loving learning about the nature around us as well, I do have to admit though, I am easily confused with some of it!!
Good photos of an interesting bird, Tom.
The male definitely stands out. They are cute little birds. This time of year I so enjoy watching the birds play and listen to their "c'mere birdy" calls.
Thanks for sharing these pics.
Beautiful color!!
I just love birds and flowers!!
Well, nature in general!!
You share some of the most beautiful photo's with us!!
Your house finches have an especially nice shade of red! Nice photos!!
You got some great captures of this pretty bird. I like the photo when you went in close and fancied it. Very well done.
Great photos. It was only recently that I learned how to differentiate between house finches and purples.
That fourth shot is really nice FG!
I've not seen any of these. In reading so many nature blogs I'm becoming more interested in identifying what's in my backyard.
Love the little Wren-so sweet!
They are so cute - love the red color on them.
