Today's Flowers # 77

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time.

Here is one way to bring flowers into your Winter home. Purchase a bouquet from the store. This looked better as it aged and the wife loved them. Too bad they don't come with names attached.

This pink bloom was really neat. It reminds me of a lily.
The large white bloom sets of the flower arrangement.

The green blooms at a nice color to the other flowers. You can see the red from the carnations behind it.

You can see a lot of neat flowers at Today's Flowers.

Camera Critters # 95 - Squirrels

Since I had a Eastern Gray Squirrel as my header, I thought I show some others who have visited during the year. This Black Squirrel wanted to eat. Maybe I should call it squirrels just like to eat
and eat
and eat.
They only take a break when they are full
or taking a rest between feedings.
I do hope you had fun with this critter and check out some others above.

I awoke today to high winds and sun after a snow storm through the night. The sky was beautiful with all the colors. What is that in the bottom left cloud?

You can see it is Old Man Winter blowing the storm into into the clouds.

Check out all the neat skies at the main site.

Header Competition # 16 - Mushrooms/Fungi

The header theme this week by Darla from Florida and is "Mushrooms/Fungi". Mac,TomDarla and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. I have a new candidate for the contest, it is Martha at Menagerie from Florida. She will be posting for a chance to join the group.

I had to go to archives because snow and mushrooms don't exist together. These one were from the yard. They stay close together for protection.

This one reminds me of a Dr. Seuss book. "Would you eat them in a tree", yes mushrooms do grow in a tree Sam-I-Am"

This is my fairy ring mushroom, very colorful, I expect to see a Leprechaun around here..

This is such a colorful mushroom, I almost chose it.

This one was from the Kent Bog. It is not as colorful but certainly has a lot of earth tones. Perfect place to grow mushrooms don't you think.

The one I chose combines my love of animals with with the mushrooms it loves. I hope you enjoy my choice of the Eastern Gray Squirrels dinner.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 16

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

The deer were very active yesterday as they came to check for food.

If you click on this photo you can see four in the woods behind my house. There was a little mist rising from the melting snow.

One decided the apple I had left for them was too tempting.

It was able to get the apple off the post and had a bite.

It then decided that some bird food would also be good.

See where others show their worlds above.

A couple of bees on my Sedum, I love the little blooms.

A dragonfly on a flower at Plum Creek Park. Darla let me know the flowers name is Lamb's Ear.

I love to see insects and flowers together.

Camera Critters # 94 - American Crow

The American Crow is a special bird with a neat coat of black. A hard bird to photograph in low light conditions.

It is a large bird and reminds you of a Raven. When I see the bird I always think about Poe's poem "The Raven" knocking at the door and the lost Lenore. I learned this poem in college and I can still remember a lot of the words.

I love their stately look.

They have a wing span of three feet in flight.

You can see a lot of neat critters at the above site.

Sky Watch Season # 4 Episode # 28

Sky Watch Friday this is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link a 2:30 PM EDT on Thursdays. SWF is run by Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Sylvia and myself.

I went out yesterday to grey skies again. I tried to make the sky interesting by adding some scenery with the Cuyahoga River, the trees and railroad shed.

Today I arose to the most wondrous sight, the Sun. Yes really, the Sun in its full glory along with a blue sky. A reprieve from the gray is simply amazing. How the Sun can make your spirits soar to new heights.

You can see a lot of great skies at the above site.

An Award from Pietro

I received this award from Pietro from Italy a while ago and it slipped my mind. Since this was a work of his art I feel badly I forgot it. It is special when an award comes from a friend. His site shows his art and photography talents.

I would like to pass it on to:
1. Sylvia from the state of Washington for all her work on SWF.
2. Darla from Florida for her neat flower site.

Header Competition # 15 - Black and White

The header theme this week by Tom from England and is "no subject but a Black and White photo presentation". Mac,TomDarla and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. This was new to me so the choices were harder, I really like color in my photos but I give it a try. Go to the other sites to see their interpretation of this weeks theme.

The Trumpeter Swan in the water was my first thought, the swan is black and white already.

Then I thought of a Morning Dove nesting in the white snow.

How about my white deer decoration from my front yard at Christmas time in the snow.

I finally decided on the local deer in the snow with the snow covering its face. This was right outside my bedroom window.

My World Tuesday Season # 2 Episode # 15

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren,  Sylvia and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

I was down at Fish Creek and saw this female Mallard Duck with the strange coloring. I decided to take another look. We have had quite a bit of melting since the last set.

Here is a pair of females to show the normal feather coloration.

She is a real beauty.

You can see a lot of neat worlds above.

Today's Flowers # 75

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time.

The Spring brings the Lilac and my neighbor has some neat ones. These purple blooms are not only lovely, they are also very fragrant. These were taken at the end of April.

It is hard not to capture their beauty.

They also have them in white but I like the purple.

You can see a lot of neat flowers at the above meme.

Camera Critters # 92 - Mallard Ducks Winner

85 Mallard ducks on the upstream side of the bridge.

The winner of the framed photo is Mac from England. The people who guessed within 10 were 7 people. Mac was chosen from a random drawing. The others who were good at guessing were: Darla from Florida, Becky from South Carolina, Betsy from Tennessee, Karen from KahollyMartha from PA and Kathy from Georgia. Here is the photo he will receive.

A big thanks to all that played.

Camera Critters # 93 - Canada Geese

This past Fall I was at a little local lake and was taking photos of the  Canada Geese. I always think of Michele from Canada and all I learned from her when taking geese photos.

The geese were co-operative and did a lot of cool things as I approached.

I was even able to zoom in close to see the results of eating the grass.

They eventually tired of me and flew to the lake. I liked the shadows in this shot.

Later in the day the Sun was blocked by rain clouds and I got this moody photo at another lake.

Check out the neat critters at the above site.

Here is a view of the sky from this Fall, it was nice to see the blue.

If you look to the cloud at the left side the plane is still visible.

This is the sky color now, sort of a blue gray.

You can see a lot of neat skies above.

Header Competition # 14

The header theme this week by me and is "Exotic Animals". I was tired of all the ice and snow and wanted to show you something from the plains of South Africa. Mac,TomDarla and I have a little contest to show a new theme header each week. Go to the other sites to see their interpretation of this weeks theme.

All the photos are from "The Wilds" in Ohio. The Grevy's Zebra fit the bill but I didn't use him. Are you starting to feel warmer? You can click on any to get a closer look.

How about a Giraffe looking out from the shade, good but not the one.

There were a pair of Common Eland on the side of the hill, no not them.

How about the Cheetah under the tree, really tempting.

Then it must be the pair of Cheetah in the shade, no not those ones either.

I finally chose the Southern White Rhino Family. I think this is exotic an animal as possible. Will this bring home the Gold to Ohio? We have to wait and see.
